That's exactly it - Carr liked it here and we were willing to pay him well for his role here, but he made it clear he wanted more time as a CB - and he's just not that good of a CB.

This team is not cheap at all - just picky about who they put their money into. $1M extra here and there for marginal players adds up, and that keeps you from signing your core players. Did you miss the wave of extensions MR put together over the last couple years to lock up our key players, giving our 2 most important O linemen huge salaries?

Big Al is not the kind of guy you break the bank for. First off, the Titans knew he would likely be suspended some games next year for his car accident ordeal. His motivation has been a question from day 1. The $2M difference was per year in guaranteed money, but the Skins dangled the extra $53M in money Al will never see, but that doesn't matter to his agent. And the guy hasn't played a full season since his rookie year. Way too risky to make him the "top paid defensive player in history".

As others have stated the guys we lost are leaving due to a better chance to earn starting roles not because we werent offering the money. As far as Big Al, I wanted him to stay as much as anyone but not for that kind of money. 41 million in his pocket in the first two years, thats insane IMO.

Loper-Wants to start for one year with the lions so he can play well and get a $6M a year deal. He wouldn't sign here because he had to chance to play.

King-Signed for $2M a year which is pretty heafty for a #4 CB who doesn't even start at NB. granted our situation is a little different because fuller doesn't play outside. Personally i thought he was worth keeping for that.

Big al-That is easy he was signed for a moronic amount of money and with current legal issues i'm glad we didn't make that king of committment.

Simms- $3M a year for a third string QB who has not played in 2 seasons? I think we did the right thing there. Simms didn't even have a shot at the #2 spot here. we'll sign ramsey or some similar playr for half as much.

Carr-Mistake there was not getting a longer term deal before. In mid season they could have got him with a 4 year 8 million dollar deal.

I think the criticism is fair for some players. King, carr and bobby wade from 2 years ago would be a combined average cap hit of $8M a fair price for those guys. had we kept wade we may have felt that we disdn't need carr at all.

No way anyone can say that AH and simms were worth what they got..

We have to assume they liked this bush kid from green bay more than king but look how it has blown up in their faces because now we have neither player.

The idea of not over spending is to keep your good players but we have lost some decent players this year and one great player so there is legit reason for complaint.

King was long gone before Bush was even mentioned.

The Titans FO isn't cheap, they are smart. They have a stellar track record of letting FAs walk who don't live up to the contract they sign with their new team. DMase was the last FA who actually continued to play at a high level for another team. If the FO lets them go, then they are easily replaceable.

I also get the impression this year that MR & Co are wanting to keep their options open - whether they are keeping room open for a trade or a guy like Holt, or more likely they are hedging their bets with VY... realizing they might need to be ready to take a cap hit if they are forced to release him soon or if they are forced to pick up another franchise QB.
