I suppose having an understanding for nature makes you insensitive to people that have better relationships with dogs than they do women. :)

Oh I can tell by how well you get along with people here that it reflects how well you do in general.

Not at all. I don't assume you guys are as corny as you seem over a message board, so be fair.

"Violently killing an animal for sport" is a very loose definition. Once again, as has been said, the killing isn't even the biggest issue, it's the way these things happen. You put up a link to a meat video, which I'm sure is disgusting because I've seen tons of them before. Yet, I eat meat... I'm a huge hypocrite, right? I might as well go out and beat a dog every night for a few months before hooking it up to my car battery? Not at all the same thing. You're also wrong to assume that I don't think twice before eating meat. Now, I'm a big fan of meat, as most people who spend a lot of time cooking are. The animals in those videos most of the time are being unfairly treated, but they're also in violation of the industry standards about 90% of the time. I'm all for regulation of the various meat industries to provide for harsher penalties for those instances, but that doesn't mean that I think that all meat is terrible.

I'm sure you'll respond that not all dog fighting is terrible either, that some of the people really like the dogs, and that everyone in the entire world is horrible and hypocritical except for you. You can't accept that argument on its face when the majority of dog fighting is based around torturing the dogs, training them to be agressive, and killing the losers in far less humane ways than meat industry standards. In the meat industry, those videos are the exception to the rule. In the dogfighting world, those things are the standard, not the exception.

With the whole pets/deer thing, you really need to read it again if you think I'm making your argument. I'm agreeing with you that there isn't something special about dogs, but that's not your whole argument. I'm saying that the fact that people would be upset by the same kind of thing happening with another animal means that there IS something different between dog fighting and hunting.

Where you're wrong is me thinking I'm not a hypocrite in this instance. Everyone is a hypocrite in some way or another, and I'm one in this category. But I can admit it.
That's the thing. You guys think you're arguing against me, while I'm almost in the same boat you're in...I'm just smart enough to see the double standard and not feel bad when analyzing myself. Unlike the rest that live in denial.
So I'm not just pointing out whats wrong with how you are- it's how I am as well. Sort of at least. I don't pretend to be sympathetic while turning the cheek to the side of the animal cruelty that benefits me. I just reap the benefits of it.

Oh, I'll riot against the thought of dog torture, but that veal sure is tasty!
