Titans placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on K Rob Bironas.

Some talking heads (e.g. ESPN's Mark Schlereth) said this month that Albert Haynesworth could get the tag, but that was impossible due to a deal reached by the sides in 2008. Bironas, who can make $2.4M on the one-year tender, posted an incredible 22 touchbacks last year and was 16-of-20 on 40+ field goals.

    Rob!

Yeah, Bironas would have been getting minimum. He was a no one when we signed him.

He didn't get slapped with the franchise tag, the Titans and Bironas reached a deal so therefore the franchise tag was not needed. I wonder where the franchise tag will be used now....Scaife????

Teams don't like to use the franchise tag generally. Usually there are only 8-12 franchise tagged players league wide year to year. It's not like a first pick in sandlot ball or anything. Front offices like to keep that tag in their pocket. Players (generally) hate it.
