There are plenty in TN. This website isn't TN. Also, there are plenty of part time people on here in school that have lower level jobs. I was a waiter for 7 years while I worked during school, and said so on here several times.

Thankfully, now I'm an attorney. Not at my dream job though, which would be taking over for Steve Underwood.

Elf, your dream job is not a job, so it doesn't really fit the definition.

I go with most of that, except John Travolta. Then we wouldn't have Pulp Fiction. I gotta take Pulp Fiction.

I was a kid growing up through disco, and whereas I've always been able to laugh at it to a large degree (i.e. I was "dressed up" to go places with my parents -- family functions, roller skating, concerts, etc.) it wasn't really a choice per se, and so I don't have to groan at some of the lifestyle choices some people may have made during those times. And now I can appreciate a person like John Travolta coming back around (thanks to one guy, Quentin Tarantino, who spent an appreciable amount of his growing up years in Knoxville, TN) and better earning his worth taking up our entertainment time the second time around. It's like a planted seed whose career sprouted, fell embarassingly on its face the first time around, and when you gave up on it somewhere around "Blow Up" or the "Look Who's Talking" franchise or even "Welcome Back Kotter" and you were sure it was dead, pleasantly surprises you like some I-refuse-to-die desert cactus 10 or 20 years later.

    That's alright with me.

Well, for starters (I dunno if anyone is even reading this old thread), I want to apologize for being so rare around GoTitans these days, heck, this past year. I was in a corporate job for 6 years that has been an amazing overall experience. I even left on very good terms, which isn't always easy to do. I took a promotion into sales management in 2007 and it's been a very busy but rewarding time. But I haven't posted here as much as I would have liked, and I've missed posting with a lot of you. I've dropped in and posted here and there, but my attention is always going elsewhere. Sorry.

So, I was a sales supervisor in cable sales led a team of salespeople and admin people, set goals, made forecasts, ran reports, generated leads, managed turf or areas, was responsible for system theft (auditing), marketing campaigns, etc. Don't let me paint the wrong picture. I was well and competitively paid for what I did, but I didn't and wasn't going to get rich off of it.

I was laid off recently. Fortunately I was offered a severance package and I believe I am going to enjoy myself and family for the next several months.

Truly, though, my goal is to never have to work for anyone other than myself ever again. I'm almost two months in to not having to wake up and go to work every day, and have cleaned the entire house, cleaned every closet, given clothes away, given toys away, re-organized every cabinet and gotten my head re-adjusted from the corporate nine to whenever it ended up being. My wife still works and one of goals and resolutions for this year is to bring her home so that she doesn't have to work anymore, or that if she does, it's doing something she loves doing.

We can manage our finances pretty good for a while if necessary, and now I have a very clear idea on how to get this next phase of our lives into transition. I'm very excited about the possibilities. So hopefully, I am making steps toward my dream job.

I was inducted in to the 'Hall of Fame' at my job this month. I get a ring and all. It's pretty silly and kind of embarrassing, but in an odd way- I'm proud.
4,300 cases in a single day. Not too bad.

This is one of the most interesting threads that I've seen here. I've wondered many times about the contributors, and it is great to get some insight into them.

I'm retired from the US Army, and defense industry. Have traveled the world over, from RVN to Iran, and most points in between. Chose the Middle TN/ North AL area to live in because the people, climate and topography are the most beautiful and user friendly I've ever found.
