Sorry, it may be on the site somewhere already...but I saw on the ESPN ticker that the Titans are trying to work on a contract with Albert Haynseworth? I haven't heard anything, but I was wondering if anyone else has?

They are talking. Reinfeldt is probably going to make a last-ditch effort at some point but I don't see Haynesworth not allowing himself to hit the market.

As long as he's not in the AFC, especially the AFC South. Can you imagine him going to the Colts if the Colts don't keep Harrison? Freeney...Mathis...Haynesworth

Personally, I say to hell with next year. We need a Super Bowl.

I think we will offer Haynesworth a pretty decent contract and then it will be up to him to decide.

At what point does money become a none issue and your surroundings more important? 60 million with Tennessee or 75 million with a team like say KC? I'm sure with his injury past the front end will be most important.

Who knows what the big guy will decide but once someone is comfortable in the money aspect ( which Tennessee will offer him IMO ) then it will be about his legacy and no team fits him better than Tennessee. Who knows what people would be saying about Kearse had he stayed here and not went to Philly which ruined his career for the most part.

I really hope we make a solid play for him but if it gets ridiculous then best of luck for him and Jones better step up huge.

I've searched around and can't find info, but doesn't the franchise tag preclude any further contract negotiations with Haynesworth until a set date? I was trying to see when the window reopened for contract negotiations, but can't locate.

The window reopened, when the regular season ended. They may now negotiate and hopefully they do.

Some other team will pay him more than Reinfeldt is going to offer. If the Titans are going to keep him, they are going to need to convince him that he will be happier and more successful as a Titan than as a Lion/Raider/Texan/Whatever and that he could regret it if he leaves. Hopefully Kearse has a long talk with him about that.

Are the Titans able to offer more money in the first few years of the deal or so something else financially that would give them some kind of advantage over the teams that are willing to just throw all their money at Haynesworth (and we all know there will be some teams in that boat)?

The real question is how many people believe he will produce at the same level for ANY team (us included) after he lands his big contract.

I see him playing about 10 games per year after he signs this contract.
