In the last 4 games his backups have had 6.5 sacks!

    Ball 3.5 sacks

    Ford 3.0 sacks

    How is that for depth?

I wonder if KVB is going to be 100% for another few weeks so they'll need to keep Ball rotated in.

If Ball gets another sack, he'll earn some red contact lenses for the playoffs.

I don't think anyone would argue that depth hasn't been huge for our defense being so dominant. Ford, Ball, Fuller, King, Carr, Fowler/Tulloch, Jones... we wouldn't be 10-0 without those guys.

Yea, our starters are easily some of the best in the league at their positions... and the backups would probably be starters on most other teams. Keeping those guys fresh and rotating through the game is possibly the #1 reason we're absolutely killing teams in the 4th Q, and we couldn't do that without having such good depth.

... and when I saw the title of this thread I thought you'd be lamenting how commentators are still butchering his name. I think it might have been Dierdorf who just called him Kyle Vander Bock the other week. That's just pathetic.

Hey if KVB isnt 100% Sunday, sit him out again i have no problems with that. Ball and Ford are playing well and a healthy KVB come playoff time is going to be huge for us.

When's the last time we busted on a defensive player? Woolfork? Let's take a look at some of our hits off the scrap heap and the draft:

Kearse - Ours, then we got him for a song
Tony Brown - Low price FA
    KVB - Low price FA
    Ball -Low price FA
    Ford -6th rounder
    Tulloch - 4th rounder
    Finny -7th rounder
    Hill - 7th rounder
    Carr - Really cheap

And the other guys were either 1st round picks of ours (Haynesworth, Griffin, and Bulluck) or good veteran FA signings (Harper, Thornton, Hope). We just don't on defense.

Well I wouldn't get too carried away with this. KVB is a damn good player, and been that way for several years. I really don't see that kind of ability from any of the other DE's we have. But they are very good depth, probably our best ever.
