I don't think we can win a super bowl with a qb that is NOT capable of managing games....

And so far this year Vince is not. Maybe in the next 1-3 years...

Collins didn't avoid any sacks that I know of, its our underated O-line thats keep him upright.

I agree with Burner, VY will be starting at the end of the season. Collins is a good backup though.

True, but their games against the Titans account for 25% of their respective samples. Of course they're not going to rank high in sacks if they've only managed at best 1-2 sacks in a quarter of their games...

Be that as it may, thats irrelevant when we're talking about Collins likelihood to implode and strait up lose a game. If the O line isn't allowing him to get sacked then who cares if he's avoiding sacks, he doesn't have to. As long as he's not throwing picks then mark my words he'll start and we'll be hard to beat.

After reading all this thread, I'm curious what exactly Vince has done to give you confidence that he can lead us to a win if trailing in the 4th quarter. If you exclude his rookie season, where no one knew what to expect from him or how to game plan for him, he hasn't done much in the way of leading and coming from behind. In fact, he's done more along the lines of almost giving games away and having to rely on our D to bail him out. That's pretty much what i saw most of last season, this preseason and in the first game until he got hurt. I think it would be best to let him sit this year out if at all possible until Collins gives us a reason to doubt him. No since messing things up. If it aint broke, don't fix it...please.

We went 10-6 last year, I wouldn't exactly say we were broke so why fix it? I just find it odd that some of you think it would be ok if collins is having a qb rating around 60 with 50% completion and as long as he doesn't turn the ball over that's fine. Vince averaged turning the ball over a little over once a game last year.

And for those saying all we need is someone to manage a game and not turn the ball over. Do you guys not remember the playoff game last year? Vince did not have a turnover until the last possession, when the game was out of reach. He completed 57% of his passes and had a qb rating around 70 before the last pass. So in vince's one playoff game he did almost exactly what you guys are saying we need.

You feel the offense wasn't broken in 2007? In a ball control offense in which most defenses attempted only to stop the run, Vince managed one of the worst QB ratings in NFL history by a playoff team. And managed 9 TD's vs 17 INT's (worst TD/INT ratio in the NFL). Bear in mind, this feat was accomplished when opposing defenses keyed in STOPPING THE RUN.

Every ounce of credit you give to Vince in the 2007 season, you are essentially taking that much credit away from our defense. I feel I'm repeating myself here, I just do not understnad how anyone can feel our offense was a success and helped achieve a 10-6 record rather than preventing a much better one of 12-4 or better.

How is it the only people who feel Vince was a successful QB in 2007 happen to be fans of the Titans, more specifically fans of Vince Young? Maybe you bought a #10 jersey and can't imagine only getting 2-3 years use out of it? I'm not sure, that's all I can come up with. How many experts/analysts raved about Vince's "leading" this team to the playoffs? Oh, bundles of them.

I'm a fan of Kerry Collins game management skills, but wouldn't it be silly for me to think KC is "leading" this team to 4-0? He is an average player on a 52-man roster in which the defensive unit is what anchors the team down. Am I satisfied with him and think just because he is behind center that he is the "leader" of this team? Heck no. We need to take a serious look at the future of our QB position. The defense will not be dominating forever, because if we had an average defense, this offense would not be nearly the same.

We will find that out once we get down 14-0 and defenses salivate at the thought of Kerry dropping back 3 straight times, or at least more than we're comfortable with.
