Vols shouldn't be used as a barometer for SEC success - they haven't been a complete "decent" team since the early 00s. That's like picking out Purdue or Stanford from their respective conferences right now and comparing them to the best of other conferences (as a Vol fan let me tell you it's totally embarrassing to say all that). The SEC is by far the best conference in the land RIGHT NOW and I hope that it doesn't change, but we all know time alters everything. The Big XII looks strong (Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech) all in the top 10 and rising and by season's end could sure enough be the top conference. I think Oklahoma and Missouri seem the most legit with Texas is in the middle while Texas Tech looks to be the most apt to make the fall.

What does that make me personally? I guess a fan of a lousy team in a great conference.

Come on man. Youngstown State, Ohio Univ., and Troy? That's enough cupcakes to feed a starving village in Africa.

Yeah, you know teams like Georgia Southern, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe, Norfolk State, MTSU, Citadel, etc are much tougher opponents than Troy and Youngstown.

The SEC is full of cupcakes itself this year. Auburn = terrible. UT = terrible. Arkansas = terrible. And the rest aren't worth mentioning other than Alabama and LSU.

the gators have hawaii and citadel on their schedule this year, and removed app state after the michigan game last year.

LSU? they have app state, troy, north texas and tulane.

georgia has georgia southern, central michigan and georgia tech.

alabama has tulane, western kentucky and arkansas state.

auburn has louisiana monroe, southern miss and tennessee martin.

yeah, those SEC teams really know how to schedule them!

these teams are not stupid. they know if they pull a Notre Dame and schedule USC, LSU and Ohio State as their out of conference games that there is no way they'll win a national championship.

uh no, you lost 35-3...let me be more clear, the only teams Ohio State can beat are cupcakes..

...Florida also has Miami, #3 LSU, #11 Georgia, #19 Vanderbilt, and @ Florida State.

    #10 Auburn, #12 Florida, #2 Alabama, @ USC,

    #2 Alabama, #19 Vanderbilt, #12 Florida, #10 Auburn, Georgia Tech, @ USC.

#9 Clemson, #3 Georgia, #3 LSU, #13 Auburn, Ole Miss,

#6 LSU, #11 Georgia, #2 Alabama, Ole Miss

Heres Ohio States: #9 USC, #18 Wisconsin, #6 Penn State, to go with Youngstown State, Ohio, Troy, Northwestern, and Minnesota.

And i'll bet anything Ohio State loses all 3 of the games against ranked opponents with the points they will have as underdogs.

They took Ohio and Troy into the fourth quarter, so I don't know what argument you have that OSU is better then any of the top teams in the SEC.

When your in the most stacked conference in the NCAA, you don't really need a tough out of conference schedule..

-and notre dame has no conference.

    no denying that statement..

I stayed at the same hotel as the Irish Football team, went down to the basement where the coaches were having breakfast, caught a glimpse of Weis, the pig he is...

so how is that any different than florida's schedule again?

both miami and fsu are unranked with no offenses.

    possible
without their best player. all you heard the week leading up to the ohio game is "ohio state without beanie well is the indianapolis colts without peyton manning."

how good is florida without tim tebow? or georgia without moreno?

i'm not sating they beat USC with wells, in fact i know they wouldn't have, but i know they blow out ohio and troy.
so it's ok for one conference to schedule cupcakes, but the rest of the country can't do it? BRILLIANT!

I think i would almost be in favor of a college football scheduling oversight commitee (or something) over a playoff system in college.

How cool would it be if the college schedule could work a little more like the pro's. Some rotating sytem where the leagues play against each other. It would be cool, if for instance, SEC#4 from last season played PAC10#4,Big10#4,ACC#4,BIG12#4 during this season.

I hope you all see what I'm getting at. I think that would be really cool and help end these "which conference is better" "who plays more cupcakes" debate.
