Based on what we have seen of CJ and what the Titans coaches wanted I think they hit on exactly what they wanted. I guess we can have hindsight and look at all the other players a year from now we could have taken and decide the GM was stupid because he didn't take them but based on what they were looking for CJ hit a bulls eye.

Also, I think the pick of Hawkins in the 4th was a total steal. I don't know how he will compare to all those WRs picked before him because I'm sure there might be one or two that have nice careers but my guess is he will end up being as or more productive than 80% of the guys drafted before him if he stays healthy and might even develop into something special like Mason did.

No way I'd question the Jason Jones pick. The kid is going to be good and fits teir style perfectly.

Stevens is the guy who seems to be a little bit of a project as far as being productive catching the ball but at least he brings solid blocking to the TE position, something Scaife couldn't.

I wouldn't, but I think he will be a playmaker in the NFL.

My reasoning, I would've addressed our needs differently.

Eh, it was a good pick. Maybe not the best pick, but a good pick none the less. I'm not going to complain about it.

I'd absolutely take him again, and never look back.

The only thing we haven't seen from CJ is the ability to plow squarely over a defender and keep running, a la Bo Jackson....and I'm okay with that. When was the last time Ladanian Tomlinson plowed over someone? How about Adrian Peterson? For that matter, how about Barry Sanders?

There are few RB's out there who have that rare combination of power, speed, and elusiveness to truly do it all; these guys are usually taken in the top 5-10 picks. If a team is picking in the bottom half of round one, those guys are usually long gone.

As far as CJ not breaking tackles....that's just false. On more than one occasion, we've seen CJ break 2-3 tackles on a single play. He routinely runs through arm tackles; if a defender hits him with a shoulder, CJ bounces off and keeps going. We've also seen him drop his shoulder and knock a defender backward for an extra 3-4 yards after contact.

Nobody's going to mistake him for Larry Johnson or Jamal Lewis, but he's far more physical than most people realize. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone else his size who runs as hard as CJ.

This kid is the full package.

What does Lendale give us then that Johnson doesn't? Lendale does not break a lot of tackles, and I think I read his short yardage % was not that good last year. But surely broken tackles isn't the only measuring stick. And you can't be suggesting that LW won't just go down like a ton of bricks when hit in the legs....he does....a lot.

I don't know if Johnson can carry 20 times a game, we'll may never see. If LW gets hurt, they are going to use Henry much more. LW may not avg 20 carries a game this year, I bet LW's carries are less this year with CJ here anyway.

The drops on offense will have to work themselves out, as the KO's. I don't know how a guy can go from being great at it in college to so-so in the NFL. I think it has to be nerves or just getting into a rhythm. If he gets those things down, he can be more valuable to us than LW and well worth a 1st.

edit : bigtitan if you didn't see the 4th game, you may have missed CJ's most physical game. They were praising him for how hard he ran for a little guy. He broke and eluded some tackles, and pushed some piles.

seems like it happens every year. wasn't michael waddell one of the top returners in college the year we drafted him?

It does happen every year. The latest has been Reggie Bush.

By the way, the other conference usa back with similar speed and stats had 110 yards for the Broncos this week on 23 carries. I like both Johnson and Alridge. They are both incredible playmakers. I watched them last year a lot. I would draft Johnson again in a heart beat. And I believe Alridge should have been valued much higher than he was. He could be a kick returner for just about anyone and play wr and rb too. If he is cut, I would want him here. But more likely to the Ravens, Bengals, or Browns.

CJ getting "at most 18 touches a game" is more than DeSean Jackson probably gets as just a WR.

I like what DeSean has shown so far, but saying at this point that CJ would have been there in the second is preposterous, given what teams know now. What's more plausible, though, given that he really went in the second, would be trading up for Jackson, who only went 5 spots ahead of us, in a lower, read: "less valued," round.

However, I like that Jason Jones pick far too much to change that now, either. Looks like our "scheme" might be coming together real well this year. We've already given a little 46 glimpse in the GB game. I'm pumped for the defense's future...the defensive line in particular.

The need to get a good WR in Jackson should've been more important than drafting a fast RB who will be splitting carries. Jackson would be a starter on this team right now and he can return kicks like CJ.
