I'm not as bummed about Young's play as I was last night. He had some horrible passes but he also didn't have much help from his WRs. On the play he was sacked, it didn't appear any WR gave him a hot route.

He was in third-and-long a lot as well. The Raiders brought the blitz knowing he was going to try to pass a lot in this game.

The main problem I saw with Young was the same thing I've seen all of camp. Young seems to be late getting the ball out which gives the defender time to adjust. If Dinger can get his timing better, I think he'll be fine.

With the exception of a couple of balls, his mechanics were okay. The deep ball to Scaife that Huff broke up was thrown off his back foot. The pocket collapsed a couple of times which prevented him from setting up. He just missed McCareins on the deep ball. But I thought McCareins looked slow on that route.

Hawkins was fun to watch on the big TD. I hope the Titans get him back soon.

Paul Williams better hope he plays better in Atlanta. He may stay on if he can show improvement and continue to do well on special teams. Chris Davis and Ealy are both "on notice". Ealy made a beautiful grab late but looked lost for most of the game. Same for Davis.

I thought Loper did a nice job for Stewart. Scott didn't have a great game.

The running game is going to be special. White is looking strong. Johnson nearly popped another big one and Henry even had some nice carries.

The defense is fine despite giving up a few big runs. The only TD drive was when KVB, Kearse and Haynesworth were on the sidelines. There was no pressure on that drive. Haynesworth did come in late and flushed out Russell who make a perfect throw for the TD.

Without the pressure, Miller ran wild in our secondary. It reminded me much of last season when the front four could not get pressure.

I'm liking the improvement of Lowry. Tulloch continues to play well. Ball had his moments. Both J. Jones and Hayes made a few plays. Mookie too. I like the depth on defense. Keglar is coming along. Even the Joiner kid should make the practice squad if not unseat Nickey.

Just like many went gaa-gaa over Ganther last week, the poor play by Young will be the over-reaction this week.

Very good post. It really was a disapointing game, but not a nightmare like everyone thinks it was. We've just got to get the playbook down on offense. I thought VY's arm looked good, he just quite wasn't putting in the right spots. Maybe we have not put the hot routes in yet. That's the only explannation I can think of for the facft we did not use any.

The defense played really well. King proved that he can be a good corner for us. Even Rey Hill looked OK.

Are we the only 3 who are not freaking out about last night?

No, but it's close to 3. Mostly, the haters are just out. Once we do well, they'll go away again.

are they using the "buzzer" they used for McNair ?
(ya know, where the buzzer goes off in 5 seconds, 7 seconds, etc..)
sometimes, I'm wondering if Vince is sitting there going through his reads, or surveying the field for open running lanes
I think McNair got better once he decided he was going to hang in the pocket until his life was threatened, and running only on called QB ground assignments

if the receivers were giving a little more effort running through that would help, . it looks like Vince is working on throwing to the spot, but they're not in sync (which could be linked to his timing). and receivers have got to stop letting up, I'd like to think if we had a guy like Roy Williams, Chad Johnson, etc.. that some of these passes would have been caught ..... that just might be wishful thinking though

2 to go, then we'll know

Taking VY's running away from him at this point would be disasterous. He needs to be able to run at least for now, that's the lesson we leaned last year. And the only way we're going to get a bona fide #1 is to give them a huge contract in FA or to draft him.

I really REALLY agree with this statement. I'm such a big PW fan that sometimes I lose track of what is the best interest for the team.

I think he has stepped up his play on special teams. I've also noticed he is a great looking blocking wide out. During the 1st preseason game - He was one of the receivers blocking when CJ had his 66 yard TD and VYs long run.

I don't remember that but it would be a good idea.

Or a small jolt of electricity would work too. :brow:

I'm not freaking out I'm just telling what I saw from last night in the game thread.(route running, VY throwing off hhis back foot that play, and watching the OL without Stewart.) I agree 100% with TitanJeff. I still like Ganther to make at least the PS and I'm a fan of Joiner from his college play. I'm also worried about Bironas.
