Fisher and Fulmer are the same coach basically. One just wears an uglier polo...and it's tighter.

Why not Bronco Mendenhall? I'm sure he'd love Fulmer's unwarranted salary. And he'd be a hell of a lot better of a coach.

When Fulmer steps down, IF Clawson has proven to be a good coach, I think he will step in. I have heard from the donor that we got our tickets from for years that was one of the possibilities given to Clawson to get him to step down as a HC to be an OC.

Except Fulmer doesn't have to deal with blowing up his team due to the salary cap. Fisher does.
Fulmer has all the money in the world to recruit and build better facilities and still puts a mediocre product out on the field

I don't think Fulmer pays for his recruits. He's not Tressell. lol
But he does typically (except for this past year...terrible) recruit very well. Which tells me a lot about his coaching. The team is usually loaded with talent, he just doesn't know what to do with most of it.

one good example is Jason Witten. I knew he'd be a star watching UT games, but only once someone knew how to use him better. What do you know...it happened. And yes, he was good at UT, but he could have been great. Dominant.

You're right, there's no salary cap to contend with, but UT's facilities aren't tops in the SEC. Everyone else has caught up.

The man has a record of 147-45. His teams have finished in the top 25 coaches poll 14 out of the last 16 years. He's 87-27 in the SEC. That's hardly mediocre.

It's very difficult to find a coach who has won as consistently as Fulmer (77%). Even the late great Bear Bryant's career win/loss record (79%) is nearly the same.

lol and that's why UT will be stuck with this guy til he dies, because people will ride his early success, and pretend he's still better than mediocre because of his win-loss record.

If you expect someone to surpass Bear Bryant's W/L record over a span of 16+ years in today's more competitive atmosphere, you'll be looking until Jesus takes us all home.

I'll take the consistent winner over the up and down every time.
