    "SEC to Lower Admission Standards"

And I wasn't aware that they even had any. But as if playing in 80 degree weather for 8 home games a year wasn't enough of an advantage - now you only need a 3rd grade reading level rather than a 5th.

Basically the SEC was higher than other conferences so now the lower standards will help the teams in the bottom standing now they have pretty much the same recruiting level.

The SEC had lower standards than most already, from my understanding. I like how the article words it though and says they were losing students to conferences like C-USA, Big East, and MAC. haha
So now that's where their standards are. With those conferences. Right above community colleges.

All the SEC schools are doing is making exceptions to football players. Even when most schools already do that it's still tough for some players to still get into SEC schools.

Kind of like in the old days where High School teachers might let their student-athlete play even though he failed the test so their school can win state.

Yes those are all good universities but we're talking about the athletes here. The only two decent athletic programs that I can think of that are true to their standards are notre dame and stanford.

Old days? I'd say that still happens in most universities and high schools across the nation. My best grades came when I was playing pg for a team that went to state finals. I doubt it was a coincidence, but i wasn't going to ask questions.

This is just for entrance though. Lower SATs and GPAs, I believe. Once they get in, they never have to study anyway...if they're good. Look at Peyton Manning. If that guy could read a 3 syllable word, I'd be shocked.

And Notre Dame should lower their standards. For athletes at least, but I guess you have to respect them for it. Vanderbilt doesn't give much away either when it comes to athletes. They're about the only SEC school that wont use this.
