I'm ready to see him vs Mike Williams... that should be a decent pre draft gauge

Don't forget two things. In all our obsession with 40 times, you need to look at how they are on the field. Speed in shorts is not the same as game speed with pads on. Some guys keep the speed, others lose speed and rare guys are 'faster'.....which leads to my second point.

Sometimes combine results confirm what we think on film - that guy is fast or that guy is slow. But sometimes guys who look slow on film run fast 40 times. They tend to be game speed slow.

Guys like Jerry Rice who ran 4.6 40's should never be able to run away from 4.30 cbs. But not only has he, but he's run right by them. Don't confuse physical acceleration or quickness as the sole issue. Reaction time is as or more important.

As one LB coach told me, he'd rather have a 4.6 guy going in the right direction at the snap than a 4.3 guy going in the wrong direction!

It's why we can't just rank guys off the combine! But it's good confirmation when their athletic traits fall into NFL expectations. Match physical traits with in field tape and we have our best chance at not busting the pick.

Was it Humphrey who Pettis beat on that double move?

Yes I agree. I even said earlier that Humphrey didn't look as fast as he is suppose to be. I'm using 40 times as a gauge of one way how he and Sherman are totally different. Humphrey is a gunner on special teams too. He's got speed. He's got quickness too. Watch him blow up screen passes! It's fun to watch. He also shows this when he's in zone coverage. I forget what game it was but he was sitting in a cover 2 and read the QB's eyes, broke on it as soon as it left his hand. He broke back about 8-10 yards and picked the ball off.

Humphrey is a very instinctual CB with excellent play recongnition. My point about him being a track star is that he does also have speed. He may not be the quickest guy in the world but he's got far more than Sherman I can assure you of that!

I'm not sure.. do you know which game it was? I've made it through about 5 of his games from this year.

The only thing I don't know how to factor when analyzing Humphrey is the pass rush. Alabama has some ridiculous pressure on the QB in some of these games. That can make CB's look much better.

It's tough to gauge exactly how much impact that is having on his play on the field. Same with both Florida corners too.

Williams vs Humphrey should tell us a lot about both players. I'll personally be adjusting my rankings accordingly.

It looked bad, but he was trying on bigger cleats after having it retaped and he was running on the sidelines to see if he could give it a go... so my guess is just a high ankle sprain.

It could be a good thing because he might realize how quickly a bad injury can occur and thus it might push him to enter the draft

Man I like Zach Cunningham so much. So many big time plays on tape. Needs to clean up his tackling a little but the sky's the limit. Top 10 player on my board.

I'd consider taking him at 18 if we go CB/WR at 5
