you know you liked Aladdin. Everybody liked Aladdin.

I'm not sad for R. Williams. He chose to do what he did. I get sad for people whose lives get cut short when they aren't asking for it.

Everybody whining about their suddenly favorite celebrity (who hasn't had a legitimate career in about 15 years) and there are people dying who didn't literally ask for it.

He did what he did. He got to choose his destiny. In some cultures, that is a somewhat honorable thing. Not so much in this culture, though.

I'm sure RR was fully aware of the consequences of his actions.. that he would be leaving his child and wife behind. And he was ready to face that.

I have a friend of mine whose dad decided to watch his son walk toward the bus for school, then go hang himself. He knew he was seeing his son for the last time, and knew exactly what he was doing.

Me, personally, I would have a hard time forgiving a parent of mine if they decided to leave me like that (if they were still able-bodied, and not Alzheimers-like)

I get the fact that these people have the right to do whatever... it's their life.. but you cannot respect the fact that you left your 2 male kids, and 25 year old daughter (or preteen son) out to dry, without a dad.

I realize this now, and I didn't before, since I am becoming a dad soon. I did not care much about my life, until my wife got pregnant about 4-5 months ago. I would feel like I am betraying my son, if I died.

Not only do you leave your loved ones without a dad, spouse, friend... you also leave them all self-doubting, knowing that there may have been a way for them to stop it from happening.

Robin, My friend's dad, and I have a bigger purpose than what mental ailments, problems, stress, feelings of worthlessness should be able to take away.

Not to be too harsh.. but it's a betrayal. Whether it's induced by mental illness or not, doesn't change the fact.

When you have a mental illness he may not have had the ability to think about anyone else at that exact moment. Just like being bipolar it can flip like a light switch and you don't understand why you are thinking of such horrible thoughts. Mental illness is the most serious illness and takes the most work to fix. At the time he may have just been thinking how can I stop this horrible feeling and couldn't think of anything else. Yes, it does get that serious. The people who leave notes or letters because it's premeditated might be the selfish ones because they are actually thinking about their family. Most of the time there's drugs or alcohol involved with the premeditated suicides which gives them courage to do the deed. I didn't read of RW leaving any type of note although I know he got out of rehab earlier this summer.

Speaking of selfishness, what about expecting someone you supposedly love to live in pain and depression for the rest of their life just so you don't have to deal with the sadness of their passing? I know some people will think that's ridiculous but I'm just offering up a viewpoint from the other side.

It's truly astounding to me how many people seemingly fail to realize the severity of mental illness and impact it can have on someone. It's a "mental" illness. Mental, meaning your brain. Brain, meaning the thing responsible for your thought processes and emotions. These people's brains are literally defective. And yet you want to label them with disparaging adjectives for it. Classy.

You could also say he was selfless in some ways...

Entertaining us all while suffering on the inside... Hiding his pain to keep others pleased.

This has been the case with many comedians.

Few of you would make these excuses for a normal family man that offed himself and left his family. But because he's a celebrity you like he gets more of a pass. You may not be able to admit it, but that is truth.

Life is rough. It's not for the weak. But it's also really quick. Can't sympathize with someone that would put their loved ones through that. You don't just kill yourself, you destroy others lives. I've witnessed it.
