Most people are stupid. I've had this argument before but financial success doesn't equal quality. I wouldn't advertise enjoying the transformers movies if I were you. Tempted to make it my signature actually....

Or most people enjoy a film for what it is. Mindless fun.

Not everything needs to be some thought provoking, well acted, academy award nominee.

Looks bad to anyone who lived TMNT as a kid 20 years ago, but to this generation of kids, it looks great. Im actually looking forward to taking my 5 year old, he loves the turtles.

Funnily enough the TMNT of 20 years ago took liberties with the original comics so I'm sure people bitched about it then too.

In transformers you can't even tell what is going on during most of the action. The Transformers themselves I've always though look terrible.

Good mindless fun movie- Pacific Rim. Story and characters are decent enough in it.

Bad mindless fun movie for popcorn eating masses- Transformers. Terrible stories and characters and stupid action where you can't even tell what is happening. Movies like this make people dumber just by watching them.

Want to see more of how terrible these movies are, this is worth a watch and you will learn something if you haven't picked up on how cliched and exactly the same these movies are.

I agree with both statements. I never said financial success equals quality or artistic merit. Financial success is just, well, financial success. And that's what "the system" cares about. That's my only point. His films have grossed over 3 billion dollars. He's doing something right. If you don't like those types of movies then no big deal. I just don't get the level of hate that's out there for Bay.

He's making movies that "the masses" are enjoying. And in turn he is making a crap ton of money. And he is making a crap ton of money for the studio. Seems like a Win-Win-Win to me. Hate his movies? Well gee whiz, I guess you could maybe not go see them or something?

If you think that would be the best use of your sig then go for it. If I cared that people knew then I wouldn't have posted it on a public forum. I enjoyed them for what they were. They're summer blockbusters about f'ing talking, giant robots that turn into automobiles. I wasn't expecting Shawshank.

It was cool seeing characters I loved from my childhood on the big screen. So I'll admit that nostalgia played a big part. If I had never heard of Transformers before I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. But even then I wouldn't be one of these folks crying about it on the interwebs.
