Doesn't look near as bad as I expected.

Keep in mind your bias. And they're everywhere for me:

    1. Childhood series/cartoon... and then the movies being reinvented.
    2. Michael Bay.

Those 2 things alone, it's got a huge hole to dig itself out of automatically.

    Bay isn't directing it though.

However, I took a quick look at the dude who is directing it and he sucks. Hard.

But he directed such classics like:

    Battle Los Angeles
    Wrath of the Titans
    Darkness Falls

I agree it doesn't look as bad as I thought. I'm not exactly dying to see it either.

TBH I never understood all the Michael Bay hate. It's like it's become trendy to hate on the guy. I mean, I get it. "He's all about 'splosions" "generic stories" etc. But he's not exactly trying to be a Kubrick or a Scorsese or a Welles. The guy makes big-budget "shut off your brain and enjoy" type films. He's all about putting butts in the seats and making money. And like it or not, he's very very successful at it.

I enjoyed the Rock. I enjoyed the Bad Boys movies. I even enjoyed the first two Transformers movies (only ones I've seen). And I've enjoyed some of the movies he's been a producer on. They won't be cracking my all-time favorite movies list but they did their job at keeping me entertained for a few hours. I never expected them to be something they weren't meant to be.

I mean, if you don't like his movies no big deal. But I don't think he makes the worst movies in the world like so many people would have you believe. It's like the people who resent the big-budget blockbuster have chosen Bay, almost exclusively, to blame. But like it or not, Hollywood (and Bay) are apparently giving the people what they want. When people stop going to see Transformers and start clamoring for the next Malick film or whatever then things would change.

It's hard for me to judge Michael Bay since I saw and enjoyed most of his movies when I was younger (13 or younger).

I have gone back and watched Armageddon and Pearl Harbor... and wow they were awful.

Bad Boys II I saw in theaters when I was in 7th or 8th grade, so I loved it by default. I think I still own the movie as well... somewhere.

I've seen all of the Transformers movies... liked the first one in high school, but that was probably more due to Megan Fox. I saw all three for free luckily.

I can't decide if I want to give Pain and Gain a chance... it's on Netflix.

I have heard good things about The Island, but I've never seen it.

And I did enjoy The Rock as well. So yea... He's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be, but he doesn't really make good films. It's definitely just fun to make fun of him.

    M. Night has to be one of the worst.

The reason it interested me is because it's based off a true story of some morons who actually did that stuff.

But I have heard it was awful.

Yeah Pearl Harbor was awful. I'm not trying to say the guy puts out hit after hit or anything. But there are worse movies being made than his, generally.

I haven't seen the Bad Boys movies in a few years but I'm betting they hold up okay. I don't really have much desire to rewatch any of the Transformers movies but as a "one-time viewing" type deal I enjoyed them.

I won't be seeing Pain and Gain in this lifetime.
