    Mostly because they sound like ass.
    They have an enhanced eq curve to them that pretty much only is suitable for subsonic bass style music. You would never want to use Beats to mix or monitor a recording.

    In about ten years there is going to be a freakin EPIDEMIC of tinnitus/hyperacusis in this country due to modern mp3/headphone combo use. Hearing loss will just be a minor nuisance.
    If you listen to loud music with phones daily - you best get ready.
    I'm paying the piper right now..

    However... the Monster N-Pulse headphones and that line are pretty damned sweet. Maybe splitting from Dre was a good move.

    I had the NPulse, but sold them when I needed some extra money a while back.

    While I was sad- I found a surprisingly solid pair in the Skullcandy Aviator. Sound quality isn't AS good as the NPulse, but it's not too far off... and if you're going for aesthetics? Unbeatable. I like these more, but mostly for the look, and they don't make my ears feel like they're in a sauna like the Monsters did.

    Sound is good too.

    I've had sen's, klipsch, etc. So far, these are my favorites.

    Much better than Beats, for sure. And much cheaper.
