It's not likely, but it sure as hell makes more sense than taking a guy with major character concerns at a position that is not even close to being an immediate need.

I'd have to do research to find the numbers on that. Obviously David Stewart was a 4th round pick... but he's a RT, so he's a different story.

I probably exaggerated a bit by saying "4th round"... my point is I don't see why you spend the 11th overall pick in the draft on a guy who won't start for you unless Roos gets hurt (or loses his job).

I think he plays RT this year. Flips to LT next. Oher was and has been pretty well ****.

So Oher gets a 4 year/$20mil deal to be a backup?

Five if you count Zach Martin, which I would assume he'll start at tackle then move to guard if he doesn't cut it there.

I wouldn't have taken Lewan because I was never that impressed with him. I had him as my #4 OT behind Matthews, Robinson and Martin, but I honestly don't know who I would have taken in his place. Everyone I wanted was gone and I wouldn't have taken any of the QBs. I've liked Calvin Pryor for over a year and he would replace Pollard, so maybe him.

They can get out of it after this season and it will essentially be a one-year $6 million deal.

I think Ensconatus nailed it. Roos, Levitre, Schwenke, Warmack, Lewan. Oher is the swing tackle. If Lewan doesn't beat out Oher we have bigger things to worry about than using a pick on a guy who won't play in 2014. It means he sucks because Oher isn't that good.

We better have the best damn OL in the league. That's all I can say.

Who was gonna play that position if a LT wasn't on the board? We had little expectation of lewan being there.

I find this picks hate has a lot of "buts" to it. The oher contract is now an argument from taking possibly the top LT? Why? He's ****. But we were willing to live with it for the moment.

Next is "character" - and I understand this... But if it's gonna get scrutinized as hard as it has been... Then why was the guy top 10 in EVERY FREAKING MOCK?

Because titans. That's why. Easy team to hate on. Regardless of what kind of talent the pick has or not.

I'd much rather take care of next years issue when we have a chance to rather than getting a rookie QB Carr syndrome against clowney/watt.

I'm not sure I would have drafted him either to be fully honest. I'd have swung at teddy. And I would have been totally okay with the risk... Considering lewan is considered a risk.. I'd rather risk on a top flight QB but still.

I had this argument before... Oher isn't nearly as bad as many make him out to be. It's that PFF grade that freaks everyone out. I would say he's average.

The character concerns are pretty massive for Lewan... If what has been reported is true, he is a real sh*t.
