Exactly. All it takes is ONE good, long-running TV show and you've already justified your annual subscription. And everything else is just gravy.

E.G. Let's say I decide to watch Mad Men (never seen it). Netflix has all 6 seasons up to this point. I would pay more than a year's worth subscription to Netflix for all 6 seasons on Blu-ray from Amazon (and S1-4 are all <$14 each).

... yet you have to wait forever for them to upload new seasons.

How long did it take them to get the last season of BB? Seemed like quite a while.

They just now got season 3 of Inbetweeners.

It's got it's perks... but it still could be much... much better. Easily. But people pay for their sh*t selection, so they have no reason to improve anything.

And nah, having 1 good series or 2 doesn't justify it when that same series is on cable TV along with others and more.

It's not them just sitting on their butt not "uploading new seasons". Studios obviously aren't going to let them release a season before it's out on DVD/bluray. And they want to sell as many copies as possible before making it available for "free" on Netflix.

Again that seems like another case of expecting too much at the price point. It's freaking 8 dollars a month.

it was a few months, it wasn't like I lost interest in BB while waiting.

    Nah, I get that.

It's 8 dollars... I get that. I never pay it and think "Oh man. Another 8 dollars down..." BUT... there are other competitors that cost around the same that are offering as good or just as good of a service. That's why they shouldn't be raising prices.

Eh. At the end of the day I don't see them losing very many subscribers over this. Maybe they will lose some initially (those throwing a tantrum and/or trying to "make a point"). But I would bet most of them come back eventually when they find that they aren't going to get any more for their $10 elsewhere. I mean, Prime is a good bargain considering you get other perks besides just movies. But looking at it from strictly a movie/TV perspective, their selection is much, much worse than Netflix last time I checked.

I wouldn't disagree with anyone that Netflix's movie selection is less than stellar. But their TV selection is excellent. Their documentary selection is excellent. Plus now they are offering original programming you can only get on Netflix. And several big stand-ups are beginning to release their new specials there. I watch more TV, docs and standup than actual movies these days so it's a no-brainer for me.

TV is about the only thing I watch on there. Though now the only shows I'm watching aren't on there so I have to find other means of streaming.

By the way... 8 dollars a month is a lot when you know your entire clientele can get everything you offer and more for free via the internet.
