You do understand that drafting a rookie running back is an awful idea? We have too many holes to draft in 1-2 rounds. In the last 5 years, only 4 running backs have rushed over 1000 yards drafted round 4-UDFA. That's a huge gamble. If we miss, which we have every time in the last decade minus CJ, you really think Greene and locker will get us to the playoffs? Not a chance

It won't happen because CJ has a better shot at for a new contract with 31 teams bidding for him instead of one.

watch the pats get him. LOL. then you have to worry about Tom brady's arm and CJ's feet with a non-downsyndrome O line protecting both of them.

Why can't I be a Titans fan and still want CJ? Is that only wrong because you say its wrong?

Just about everyone who follows the Titans has come to the conclusion running back Chris Johnson won’t be back in 2014.

It’s been written about, and talked about, since the end of the 2013 season.

Johnson’s base salary of $8 million for this fall, coming off a year when he ran for a season-low 1,077 yards, just doesn’t make sense financially. The fact the Titans have been non-committal about him all offseason puts the writing on the wall in Sharpie.

At this point, it would be an upset if he’s back. Frankly, it’s not going to happen.

    So what’s the hold up?

Those who follow me on Twitter saw my mention Saturday night that the team is expected to gauge trade interest in Johnson. Why not try and get something for a guy who’s going to be released?

It was greeted with sarcastic responses, and I understand where folks are coming from. Yes, trading Johnson is going to be difficult.

Teams around the league are also expecting Johnson to be released at some point, so why give up a draft pick if he’s going to be on the market and could be had with no compensation? Plus, it’s a pretty deep free agent class at running back, with backs like Houston’s Ben Tate, Indianapolis’ Donald Brown and Oakland’s Darren McFadden available. The released of Saints running back Darren Sproles put him in the mix in recent weeks. Other options are available, and that’s not counting the prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft.

I suspect the Titans are checking their options with Johnson, and other running backs on the market. Finding a good fit to pair with Shonn Greene and Jackie Battle – and a trade partner for Johnson – would be ideal for the team.

The second part will be easier said than done.

pick up a bag of trash right outside of the stadium and put it in the lineup.
