It's slower than smoke off sh*t the rest of the month, except after 11PM.... still can't play online worth a damn, though. Tried battlefield 4 the other night it was laggy as hell, player wise, anyhow, the maps loaded right up. lol even got a few kills before i gave up.

My mom lives out in the sticks and gets like 1mbps on a good day from her DSL.

Satellite ain't an option because they cap that stuff.

yep its always the smallest pipe that limits the flow

sucks being in Tech level 1 when everyone else has Tech level 9

On the plus side the only thing stopping electricity companies from using their HUGE pipe is themselves.

    https://www.epb.net/news/news-archi...fourth-anniversary-by-upgrading-all-services/

'Residential customers with current service of 100 megabits-per-second or higher will be automatically upgraded to 1 gigabit-per-second service. The residential cost for this service will be $69.99 per month. Residential customers whose network speeds will increase from today’s 50 megabits-per-second to 100 megabits-per-second will have their monthly charges remain at $58. While the average download speed in the US hovers around 7 megabits-per-second'

zero technology reason we all could not have this.

    Google Fiber

    That is all.

    I'm over the ISP model.

Internet should be treated as a utility.

    Completely open, no limits.

Companies should prepare for the change or Google is going to run straight through them.

I'm late to this party, but I hope someone mentioned in this thread how easy it is to put up a cheap antenna and get NBC, CBS, FOX and some other networks for free over the air in HD (better HD than you get via cable). That covers you for most live sports and major events like the Oscars, Grammys, etc.

I canceled my cable a few years ago and I find I can easily get all the content I want via antenna, legal streaming and (I admit) some illegal downloads.
