Both examples you listed were guys at the end of their careers. Our 2 highly drafted wr just fished their 1st and 2nd professional seasons. I loved Gordon and wish we would have gotten him, but he was taken in the supplemental draft in the 3rd with a lot of question marks. A lot of teams passed on him.

If Mike Evans is still on the board, maybe (but very unlikely) we could trade 11th overall to the Steelers for their 15th overall and 3rd round pick. (If they have one don't feel like looking it up).

    Why it makes sense:

Likely the top pass rushers will be gone.
Steelers are already planning on Sanders leaving.
They also stated that they would like to get Ben a tall receiver for the red zone, like when they had Plexico.

Baltimore (16), Jets (18), and Chiefs (23) could all 3 also be looking to move up for the #2 WR. Might be able to get those 3 + Steelers into a bidding war and make out like bandits.

Yeah it would be nice these draft to accumulate as much as we can, especially missing on a third this year. We have a big transition this year to a 3-4 and have many holes to fill and places to improve.

Just because we took 2 WRs high in recent drafts doesn't mean we're good at the position. DWill and Mariani might not resign. Washington is in his last year and getting older. Think about it this way, what if Kendall went down with a season ending injury? Are you prepared to play the rest of the season with Hunter, Washington, and Preston as your top 3 WRs?

To me, one of these WRs could slip to the 2nd round that that's where the value could be. I would be thrilled if someone like Jordan Matthews was there and the Titans pulled the trigger. He's a perfect complement to Hunter and Wright (and I'm a UT fan, not a Vandy fan). Hunter is our vertical, downfield threat, Wright is our slippery slot guy, and we need a big bodied WR in the mold of Boldin who will just out muscle DBs and go up and get the ball.

Something else I think might even be a better idea than going WR early is taking an elite TE. After Walker, I don't really like any of our TE's. And I go back to my original question, what if Walker goes down early in the year? Are we prepared to go into the rest of the season with Stevens and Thompson as our top 2 TE's? I definitely am not. Also, Whiz played TE in college, Michael coached TE's in SD, and Mularkey played TE in college. I wonder if when they watch the tape of our season if the three of them might be thinking we need another TE that's more explosive? Could you imagine if we took Ebron from NC and what a game changer he would be? Dude is a beast and would basically be another WR on the field. Imagine Ebron, Walker, Wright, and Hunter on the field together!

I agree. I'm 100% on Barr or Mack at #11. If both of them are gone, we should trade back. As mentioned Steelers (15), Ravens (16), Jets (18), and Chiefs (23) may be looking to trade up for a WR (pure speculation). We need Evans or Lee to seperate from that 2nd tier group in the combine.

If we trade with NYJ we could do #11 & our 4th for NYJ 1st (18), 2nd, and 4th. Basically we move 7 spots back, pickup a 2nd, and swap 4ths also. It's fair according to this: http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

At 18 we can pick up a 2nd tier OT, a DE like Hagerman or Tuitt, Louis Nix, or a CB. Worth it to pickup a mid-2nd. That would be huge.

Said it before on here....Ebron might be an ideal pickup. Two headed TE monster. Lets face it, Thompson is a bust, and Stevens is not a playmaker, rather a blocker. They already drafted 2 high end receivers and have a bit more depth at the WR position or could go FA, but snagging a guy like Ebron gives them Depth AND an instant playmaker. It would be downright filthy, and a big target for whoever is QB. The league is going heavy TE anyway.

I am not saying it is my first choice, but could be intriguing. I see a few mock drafts actually have us taking Justin Gilbert and or Jake Mathews most recently...They are all over the place, as always ha.
