5/30 would be great, I'd like 5/35 also. Anymore and I'd be very cautious.

Verner is better than Finnegan. I've seen Finny get abused by receivers while here in TN more than Verner has.

Is JC seriously still saying McCourtey is our best corner AGAIN?

Notice he stops talking once the season starts every time he does this nonsense.

Mc-C sucks. He was garbage all year.

    What are these question marks?

Dude has played FAR beyond his payscale every year.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys watch this team.

    Yea ok lol

He finnished the year with a higher PFF grade. But you fall for Verners 5 flashy plays as being better.....

    see
McCourty is the closest thing we have to a shutdown corner. He may not make the flashy plays, but he limits mistakes, blankets the WR, and avoids penalties.

Verner may make the big play a bit more often, but he'll have his moments where the WR blows past him. He's also penalized a lot more often. I would take solid coverage over a couple of flashy plays all day.

I love Verner's physical play and how he's always around the ball, but he's overhyped. He is also reaping the benefits of being a #2 CB. Make him be the #1 without McCourty across from him, and see how much he suffers.

I wonder if you watch anything but SportsCenter. You remind me of little timmy next door who doesn't understand football, but notices all the big plays.

I can't believe people are actually comparing Verner to Finnegan. God the CB position must be so misunderstood. Finnegan was a 5'9 190 guy trying to play like a 6'2 215 guy and lacked the speed and man to man coverage skills to pull it off. Vern is a smart, instinctive CB, with great mirroring skills and ELITE drive on the ball abilities. That ability to jump routes and break on the ball is what makes him who he is and separates him from McCourty who is a good corner in his own right but is less instinctive. That comparison is damn near insulting. Verner actually has has skills he isn't just "feisty". And btw all those PI calls against him were absolute bullsh*t, he played those guys perfectly, it's not on him that the league treats receivers as if they were made of porcelain.

The flags he draws are the only thing that hurts him, you can't give away free yards, thats why McCourty would rather knock a ball down that to drive on it and risk giving up a free 1st down. he knows this is an offensive league and the refs protect the WR's.

You guys make it seem like thats a bad thing, but its not.

On the contrary, I really like McCourty's "play it safe" style. Vern is a lot more boom an bust and I like McCourty's consistency. The reason I think Vern is better is because he gets more turnovers which gives our needy offense more opportunities to score. I also like Vern's ability to break up short routes which is something Jason will always struggle with due to his more conservative style. I think they compliment each other well and think McCoutry will also be better at jamming guys and staying with them on deep routes. He will also bite much less on double moves/get beat deep and later in his career might even make a great safety for us much like his brother. I've always been partial to McCourty's style play so trust me I'm far from a J-mac hater.

Said the exact same thing yesterday. 5/30 I think is unrealistic but 5/35 and I'm sold. Anything more than that and I'd be a little hesitant. I do want him and Pollard here next year though, our pass D wasn't the issue last year IMHO.
