Casey is the man, he'll get it done anywhere on the line.

Lol you didn't get it. Casey can play in a one gap system. No need to talk about trading him. That's what I was referring the joke to.

One gap calls for PENETRATING DTS.... Exactly what he is. He can sit as a 34 DE and be just dandy.

I get it. I know the difference between a 2 gap and 1 gap system. The thread is about whether Casey would fit a 3-4. Most people assume that a 3-4 system is a 2 gap system with BIG run stuffers up front. I was pointing out that Whiz has already said we aren't going that route. We are going to a 1 gap system. Casey thrived in a 1 gap system last yr and I think Casey will be just fine in a 3-4 1 gap system, but if for some reason the coaching staff didn't think that Casey would fit then instead of misusing him they should trade him to get something for him. Again, I think Casey will be just fine. I'm excited to see how we put the defense together and what pieces we add.

Casey is going to play the Darnell Dockett role is this version of the 3-4. Dockett played end and accounted for 28.5 sacks in the six years he played under Whisenhunt, although the first two years of that we're not in a straight 34, it was a hybrid.

If we end up trading casey because he doesn't fit "the system" then our new coaches are no better than the old ones, who didn't focus on their players strengths. He could play any line pos in the 34, might even be a good idea to move him around in dif sets

Attacking, one gap monster. It's what he does anyways. This is no different. He's just attacking the B gaps instead of the A gaps.

First of all player trades barely ever happen anymore and why would we trade our best player without at least seeing how he does in a 3-4?
