The problem isnt the 1 pt thing. Its the automatic part. Whats the point of having an "Extra Point" if you 99% of the time KNOW you are going to get it. The problem is the Extra Point has been a part of the game from all levels High School through NFL that I don't just want it to go away. Because its ALOT harder to always get the extra point at lower levels. Even in College teams dont always make it like the NFL.

So the clear solution is to move the kicker back. Don't make it an automatic kick. I say make it a 35 yard kick. 40 or more is just too far. Kickers in the NFL miss 35 yarders each year. And later in the season when the wind and weather come into. Play, 35 will no longer be a gimme kick

Free Throws in basketball arent going anywhere. I do think they are kinda pointless in the NBA b/c so many of them are 90+% Free Throw shooters. But there is WAY too much strategy later in the game to get rid of them.

I have always wanted to see a 4 point Half Court Shot in Basketball though. Kinda like a Hail Mary play for Basketball. Its hard enough to even make a Half Court shot. And I know there would be closer games if it was possible to come back from being 4 pts down after having to foul alot to get the ball back.

I hate that they want to take pieces out of the game. IF you want it to be more exciting, then move the kick back to a challenging distance. The teams would choose to go for two more often.

Put the ball on the 15-20 for the XP. That should keep it from being automatic.

I say it's time for the XFL to make a comeback. It came and went because it was before it's time. Now, it could really have a chance at surpassing the nfl wus league.

Note: To avoid confusion I am using football terms to describe rugby.

What about doing it rugby style. In rugby you go into the end zone you have to touch the ball to the ground. You must then kick it from that point or further back. You cannot move it side to side. For example, if you touch the ball down in the end zone along the sideline you must attempt the conversion from a point along the sideline.

    From BBC Sport:

It creates more excitement as the play does not end when the goal line is crossed but when the ball is touched down to the ground. So to make things easier the scoring player will try to touch the ball down to the center of the end zone. Opposing players stand behind the goal line and can rush the kicker once he starts his run up.

It is far far more exciting than the football extra point:

I like the idea of moving it back, or moving the hash marks to the college locations. That said, I would not be a fan of eliminating it. I liked it when the 2 point conversion was brought back, and would like to keep the option between the two open.

The XFL was fun to watch back in the day. I really liked what they did in lieu of the coin flip at the beginning of the game....that was pretty cool.
