No 29-year old back is the right guy to build around.

If used more like Sproles or Bush yeah, but that isn't the "identity" we were alledgedly building our defense to operate around. I still think CJ is a solid serviceable player, but not being run 25 times up the middle every damn game.

Here is my take on CJ. Coming from an Australian that hasn't grown up with the game like you guys have. SO my knowledge may not be as vast of all of yours.

To me it seems like he gets the ball and scans for holes, most of the time not finding one. Eddie George seemed to run on instinct and things would open up for him based on that educated running instinct he had.

Now someone who has run for 2000 in a season surely is not devoid of talent. However, without that instinct he is not a play maker either.

The other important point here is what is being put in front of CJ. I for one with my limited knowledge knows that the plays put in front of him aren't the best. However, I am not one for blaming the o-line or any other teammate for that matter. However, some of the play calling does leave a lot to be desired at times. So does better offensive management improve CJ's ability to gain yards? I thought process suggests it does.

I think a mixture of bad play calling and CJ's loss of instinct/confidence in o-line space creation means 3 and outs. I think its a combined unit use rather then CJ's fault or the o-lines fault. CJ+o-line+OC= no ypc.

Given a good OC that knows how to create the run would CJ break out? yes.

However, can we afford the salary cap burden of a CJ at RB? no. not if he aint contributing to a 10w season.

oh and he is 29 as well. not good

Yeah but we don't get 8 million in cap room if we cut him. Only about 3-4 milliom

Strong post. His age, contract situation, and reduced production concerns me going forward as well. If I didn't think the O-line is mostly at fault I'd want him gone as well.

I'm really unsure about CJ. Has he performed well? No. Has the game plan been even somewhat adequate? No. I wouldn't mind seeing him cut. The organization poor mouthed CJ when he was running his wheels off. However, he's collected some big paychecks the last couple years while not producing. The scales are balanced. I can still see him going to some team with an offensive coordinator that knows how to use his talents.

CJ is a scrub and will never be good again. He is done. He'll never play a down in this league again. Shonn Greene and Jackie Battle are the RBs we need to build around, they will take us to the super bowl and carry us to multiple championships. Cut CJ as soon as possible.

This is precisely what many on here believe. You're like a freaking article on the TheOnion so fantastically sarcastic yet not very far removed from what some honestly believe.
