Munchak News/Pollard may not be back next year

I see a playmaker. Yes he gets beat here and there, but so does Verner, McCourty, Ayers, and everyone else in Nashville.

Youre asking too much of him. He's been a good player.

 

The only thing I wanted out of Pollard was to cut down on the penalties. He hasn't. I call him out for it.

I wasn't expecting him to miraculously become better in coverage. It's not his game. I wasn't expecting him to transform the defense with his irreplaceable leadership. He hasn't, so I'm not disappointed in that.

I just don't get the constant BJ fans give him.

 

Tony Brown eventually made me turn on him for that reason, but Pollard's penalties aren't justified, they're BS and the league even admits it.

 

I forgave him for the flying roughing the passer penalty on Henne. He was trying to make a play. The one when Henne slid? Unforgivable.

 

Ok then you hate Akeem Ayers too then for the same reason, dumb penalties?

 

I too dislike the fact that Pollard gets so much credit for the "attitude on D". Personally, I do think he's a leader but one leader does not change everything about the D.His leadership didn't make Casey dominate dudes, nor did it cause Vern to get all those picks. It's just like how I think coaching is overrated outside of X's and O's. At the end of the day, great players consistently make great plays, average players make great plays very rarely.It's like how people blindly praise Greg Williams for every good defensive play and mocked Jerry Gray for every bad defensive play.

That being said Pollard has clearly been one of the top 3 players on our defense (tied with Pito for 3rd). He leads the team in tackles, is second in picks, and is one of the surest tacklers we have that anyone actually fears. I'm not saying the guy is a top 5 safety but he most definitely does not suck. Kenny Britt right now, sucks. Rob Turner sucks, Pollard is at absolute worst average.

 

if you don't believe Pollards attitude and presence on this team has made Casey a better player, you're kidding yourself

Casey wants to be the best player playing. Pollard brings out the best in guys

Look at all the teams Pollards been on. All remarkable defenses

 

Can someone answer me this though?...

Who can we get that is better than Pollard?

And before you say get a safety in the draft... you really think we'd spend one of our first two picks on a safety? I don't doubt we'd draft a safety at some point in the draft, but he'd likely fall in rounds 4-7, which would mean he's better suited as a depth player.

Pollard is our best option for the time being. Gotta keep him.

 

At least Pollard looked alive out there, Good to watch.
