I have zero interest in Lovie, replace him with Darrell Bevell.

I just have a bad feeling about Bevell. Without Wilson that offense is most likely average at best. And when he was in Minnesota he had that one great year with Favre and AP. I'm just worried he might be a guy who's just been in the right places with the right talent at the right times. That said, would I take him over Munch? You bet.

As for Lovie, I know he's maybe not as exciting of a hire as some of these "up-and-coming" coordinators or college coaches but at least he has experience and has been successful in the league. 81-63 career record ain't too shabby. 4 out of his 9 seasons were 10+ win seasons. Only 3 of 9 seasons were below .500 (two 7-9 seasons and one 5-11). And all this with 5 seasons of no QB and 4 seasons with Cutler as QB.

I was honestly amazed the Bears fired him coming off of a 10-6 season. And here our ownership is, putting great thought and deliberation into whether or not they should fire our 5-9, and 20-26 overall, coach.

What if Chuck Knoll had been fired after the 1971 season? Do the Steelers go on to win 4 Superbowls with a different coach?

Does that mean I think Munch could be the next Chuck Knoll, hell naw. But I think it has to be mentioned that there are similar situations where coaches had great success.

True enough. Though clearly the exception and not the rule. So I don't really see Chuck Noll's career as a point in the PRO column for ole Munch.

Munch just flat out doesn't bring much to the table and he's not getting results. And those are ultimately the types of things you should judge a HC by. Not things like "How unlucky has he been" or "What if he suddenly/magically becomes a great head coach".

If/when Munch is fired here I'm rather confident he'll never even sniff another NFL HC job. He was woefully unqualified from the get-go. And he's shown nothing in 3 years which warrants giving him the benefit of the doubt.

My biggest thing with Lovie is he reminds me alot of Fisher. He's a good coach, but plays favorites and doesn't excel in anything. He had a great defensive coordinator for years and had excellent player. I want a coach who can teach up talent, especially quarterback. Lovie is more of a special team/defensive coach.

I'm not saying Lovie is a bad coach, he just doesn't fit with what we're doing here. We need a coach who can actually develop a QB.

Fair enough. Can't really argue with much of that. Personally I think I'd prefer a defensive-minded HC, but I expect I'm well in the minority with that opinion.

I just think Lovie needs to be on the short list if Tommy Boy is wanting a guy with NFL HC experience. And after the Munch-debacle, I have a feeling that might be the way he leans.

I don't know. They really only hated Lovie and the O line. From my experience Lovie reminded me a lot of Fisher. Plus he showed no emotion on the field.

If we want to wish for alternatives, let's at least shoot for the moon, right?

You have no interest in Lovie but want Norv turner who has an inferior record.

On this, I disagree entirely. Munch would have to have success somewhere else first, but he could be a HC again. And experience alone warrants some small benefit of the doubt. That plus say a successful OC stint somewhere else could be enough. And of course you said NFL, but I wonder if he couldn't get a HC job in college somewhere and be at least moderately successful.
