Cam Newton
Christian Ponder
Andy Dalton
Jake Locker
Ryan Mallett

I wanted us to go: Von Miller, Watt, Fairley, or Quinn in the 1st & then a QB in the 2nd. Just imagine if we took JJ Watt, then traded up a couple picks and got Andy Dalton.

 

^^ From what I said, imagine if we still took Casey Rd 3 and Watt Rd 1. Taking 2 DTs like that isn't uncommon, Bucs took a DT 1st and 2nd rd in 2010. A Watt/Casey DT duo would be unstoppable.

 

Incorrect. We took Jake at 8 and the Texans took Watt at 11.

I think this was a pretty solid draft class for us though. Ayers, Casey, McCarthy. I do think the Jamie Harper pick was one of the worst we've made in a while. Dude thought he could just run to the edge every play like in college and win with speed.

 

I would have rather drafted Mallet over Locker anyways.

I knew we were taking him, just knew it, so I convinced myself he was who i wanted. I mean we had no QB so it was kind of obvious to me then.

The guy I was really hoping for was JJ Watt. And Im not saying that after the fact, plenty of posts supporting Watt at 8.
