Ryan Fitzpatrick has been as good as Locker this season

Exactly. This is the problem. People want to blow Locker's abilities/accomplishments way out of proportion. Meanwhile they have unrealistic expectations of the backup QB. The backup is the backup for a reason. There SHOULD be a noticeable dropoff between the starter and the backup.

 

agreed and I think we have 2 backups here imo. Neither one is starting caliber in the nfl.

 

I agree. If anything the dropoff between Locker and Fitz wasn't substantial enough... at least post-bye week.

 

I said this is another post but I questioned Munch from a draft perspective. I don't think he knew what he was looking at with locker coming out of Washington. I don't follow much college but listening to kiper he wasn't too high on this guy and stated his reasons. I know qb's are crap shoots but dam there was a lot of negative about locker coming out of Washington

 

QBs are a crapshoot, to an extent. But we panicked and reached IMO. I said in another thread a few days ago, sometimes it's better to wait on the right guy to fall in your lap rather than to force the issue. That's how you get in these situations where you end up wasting 3, 4, 5 years on a guy just hoping and praying he's going to miraculously "come around" or turn into something he's not.

 

I agree and this is exactly what this turned out to be!

What they did, was draft the anti VY

 

You can find good QB's in the second and third round as well.I think we need to quit drafting a QB early in the first round its bit us in the ass twice and we've wasted a total of eight years between VY and Locker.Meanwhile there are guys like Kaepernick,Wilson,Dalton,etc. that were gotten after the first round that turned out good.In fact in both the 2006 and 2011 draft there were guys like Leinart,Young,Locker,Gabbert all drafted in the early stages of the first round and none worked out.
