Just saw this... This is stupid surprising to me... And probably most everyone here...

@PFF: Top ranked 4-3 defensive end rushing the passer is Robert Quinn (+26.6). 2nd is Michael Bennett (+12.9) and 3rd Derrick Morgan (+8.6)

Morgan had a slow start to his career, but he has finally started living up to his draft stock. I'm pleased with his production finally.

Same here. I was afraid he'd never come around but glad to see he is finally playing well. I was gonna say that he's our best DE (which he is) but that's not saying much.

Not the flashy DE most want, but he is solid and does his job to the fullest. Watched him a lot in college and he was never someone that would make you excited at all. I really like Morgan these days.

I've said this so many times and I will say it again.

The dude is a GREAT all around end. In the NFL, you need to have someone who is stout against the run and can seal his edge, WHILE also able to rush the passer from his lane - and DM gives us just that. I've re-watched alot of games this year (and last year) and he continues to impress me.

I hate how DE's are ranked by their sacks, there is so much more than that in an end's game.

One of the best things is that he's got incredible stamina as well. The NFL is full of quick tempo and no huddle offenses, so its much harder to get those sub-package and role players in there. You need linemen like DM (and Casey, even RP, Martin, and Mookie) who can kind of do it all with regards to the run and pass.

I'm actually very OK if he doesn't raise those sack numbers but keeps ballin hard and freeing up other players - like our smaller (zach) and lighter/lanky (Ayers) OLBs - to make things happen. I also think it will make it easier to extend him to a nice and affordable 2-3 year deal (or longer if he's willing).

So does he get a big contract in the off season?

I mean... Dude doesn't flash off the screen. He could very well be retained for a reasonable contract.
