He won Rookie of the year and turned around 2 of our seasons that were disasters.

    What's the definition of "good?"

I'd take someone who wins games, minimizes turnovers, and elevates the play of the offense over someone who's a stat monster but can do the above.

Criteria number one: employed by an NFL team given you are still physically able to play.

    Next question.

he wasn't good. ever. he was dumb as a rock and won games in a lot of flukey ways. admit it, he sucks. doesn't have anything to do with Fisher. he was dumb, lazy, immature, and just not a QB.

Whoa whoa whoa. I'm really not trying to pile on you here as it's already like 17 vs. 1. But VY "minimizes turnovers"?

Vince Young. 60 career games. 63 turnovers.

Then when you take into consideration that he was never the type of guy throwing it 35-40 times on a regular basis and it makes the notion that he somehow "minimizes turnovers" even more ludicrous. More often than not we were limiting his throws and honestly not asking a whole heck of a lot from him and the guy was still a turnover machine.

I was a VY fan for a long time. He had all the physical tools you could want from a QB. VY was his own downfall. More specifically his fragile psyche, poor work ethic, and and immaturity was his downfall. It wasn't Fisher. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the way Fisher handled VY at times. I didn't like how quick he was to yank him and throw KFC in there. But VY could have still thrived despite all that.

The fact that he's been unemployed since 2011 speaks volumes and should really tell you all you need to know.

    Here's our question: why?

As in, why would any team needing a quarterback not seek a player with the following resume:
    • Former No. 3 overall pick after brilliant college career
    • Career 63.8 winning percentage as an NFL starter
    • Coming off seasons in which he went 12-6 as a starter; the other guys who started for Tennessee went 2-12
    • Competitive, above-average passer rating of 84.9 from 2008-10
    • NFL's second best running quarterback, and still in his athletic prime
    • Two-time Pro Bowler
    • Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2006
And yet, when ESPN's Adam Schefter was making his rounds on TV and the web Monday morning, it was to report that Young might consider a backup job in Philadelphia.
The NFL silly season never seemed sillier.

And all of VY's buddies saying he belongs in the NFL means what exactly?

Also, you realize that second article you linked is from May 2011 right?

    Troll... hmmm

One guys making reasonable arguments. Some of the other guys are name calling and hurling insults.

    Might wanna re-think that.

The only reasonable argument is that VY has had four chances in the NFL and hasn't been retained once. That's reasonable.

Just how many chances does he deserve?

Four out of 32 teams have seen him up close and personal and said no thanks. That's 13% of the league. The other 87% has apparently made their judgement without needing any other looks.

He's about as done as one of his smoked sausages.
