Going into yesterday I was so hyped for this game, probably the most excited I've been since the start of the season. Jake Locker is coming back, it's Code Blue, San Fran coming into town, and if we wanted to be really optimistic we could be 4-2 or even 5-1 entering into yesterday's game. Well, I saw a team come out flat in our biggest home game of the year so far, saw a lot more red in the stands than I expected, and it seemed like no one was either ready to play or prepared (except Pollard). We continued to shoot ourselves in the foot with dumb penalties and a key turnover, our coaching staff (outside of Williams) continues to perform below average, and we once again could not win a big game.

A lot of fans want "respect" way too much in meaningless power rankings and get upset over 20 second highlights but to be perfectly honest...we deserve it. Until we can field a team with a coaching staff that can maximize our players talents and actually have players that will win us games and not lose them then we'll continue to be viewed as one of the bottom teams. The attitude of this franchise is very bleak and it's no wonder why we never win. Look at the Ravens, Steelers, Patriots, Packers, etc. They have a winning attitude from top to bottom, they know how to be successful and how to sustain success.

Now I have no idea what to expect from our new owner (RIP Bud) but I hope this guy is as aggressive as Bud has been over the past couple years going after Peyton and making some moves this past off season to get Williams and players like Levitre and Pollard. This franchise desperately needs an adjustment and not just not a change of players. We need coaches that know what they're doing, a front office that can evaluate and know how to work the books, players who actually want to win, and actually start winning some games so maybe we'll actually start drawing more of our own fans.

This post may come across as a, "Well duh we've been needing this for years". It really did hit yesterday after seeing the 49ers coaches pick us apart and for the players to actually execute most of their plays very well. On the other hand, we're muffing punts in key situations and we actually saw our first successful screen play in like years. I'm not a doomsday sorta fan, I still have a good feeling we'll turn it around after our bye but I have a few doubts in the direction this franchise is headed.

tl;dr version: Pissed off from yesterday, we need more of a winning attitude, win this season for Bud.

Its going to be an interesting off season if Munch doesn't prove he can hack it.

I think he's already proven that he can't. The next nine weeks might just be a formality.

I've in no way given up on the season. We may very well end up with a winning record, but this team has more talent than 3-4 and Munch has had 39 games to establish some sort of identity on this team and has failed to do so.

We did not come out "flat"

What we did do was spin our wheels in the dirt at times, but we were moving the ball pretty good for the most part. Jake had over 300-yards.

i think frodo is coaching for his job more than munch. i truly hope if the entire staff changes that Locker is kept. this season has totally changed my opinion of him.

I agree, but to the OP's point, we have a lot of talent on this team so we should theoretically be killing it right now. It will be interesting to see what Munch does after the bye.

MM needs to show improvement and he simply has not done that yet. It is still early to mid season and we played a rough 3 games. I think by the end of this year we will know where we stand with our HC going forward in to next season

We better never try Code Blue again until it's cold.

That was a miserable failure. I did not wear mine... Way too hot until the end of the game. I already had a jersey on.

The intro was terrible. They showed David Stewart on the jumbotron twice. And they sent CJ out last instead of Locker, but announced them backwards. On top of all that the Niners team ran out while we were cheering for our guys... Harbaugh probably does that on purpose.

It was pretty pathetic all around.
