Titans coach Mike Munchak said punter Brett Kern offered no elaborate excuse for his second dropped snap of the season last Sunday.

Kern fumbled a second-quarter snap and was tackled after his recovery, allowing Seattle to take over at the Titans’ 38-yard line following the change of possession.

Said Munchak: “We talked to (Kern) about it and he just basically said, `I dropped it. There was nothing else going on. I honestly lost concentration for some reason and I did something I shouldn’t do.’”

The play was all-too-familiar for the Titans, as Kern fumbled a snap in the second quarter of a game against San Diego earlier this season. In that contest, the Chargers took over at the Titans’ 30-yard line and kicked a field goal a couple of minutes later.

The Titans were more fortunate against Seattle, as they stuffed the Seahawks’ field-goal attempt and returned it for a touchdown. But Munchak is hoping that he won’t have to worry about another drop by Kern.

“I hope that’s the end of them,” Munchak said. “I hope he’s got his two mulligans and we move on. The good thing is that when something bad like that happens, we somehow made a play to overcome that.”

It was all in the plan for the botched FG return for the TD play they worked on all week in practice.

Yeah it was a short distant memory, due to the botched FG returned for a TD.. At the time, I was just speechless when it happened at the worst time.

Why do punters/kickers always try to throw the damn ball when they botch it? The Seattle idiot did the same thing, makes no sense

Instinct is to get rid of the ball.. I'd probably do it too.

I was so pissed when this happened. Our special teams have, and will cost us games this year if this crap continues.

it's a bad omen when you get the opening kickoff and get a safety. I am shocked our special teams hasn't cost us a ball game yet although they contributed to our loss to kc

It's different when your offense can't generate any points, but it's a killer when you spot a team 7 points before your offense steps on the field. To be honest, I don't even consider a KR for a TD spotting points..
