You just have to be careful when drafting Oregon players.

You usually don't draft FS in the first round, whiffin and Wilson are alright. I don't think we need to take a tackle too early yet. Roos and Stewart still have a few years left in them. QB perhaps, but I'm not in love with this year's class.. we'll just get another Locker. We still have Fitzmagic back there who will get a chance before we draft a QB in the first two rounds.

Our CB play was a huge factor in us losing at Houston. If those WRs had not caught all those passes over our CBs, we would be 2-0 even with the struggling offense. I say we pretty much have to go CB in the first round.

We might also be thin at WR, too. I know I know, no way we can draft another one high, and I don't think we should. But with Britt gone, Nate aging, and Hunter being a question mark, we'll be left without a playmaker outside of Wright. But WR is one place I'm okay being thin at for the time being.

Safeties do go in the first round. In todays NFL, a safety is a safety - you can change up the scheme to suit needs. Here's the breakdown of safeties drafted in the 1st recently:

2013 - 3 (Kenny Vaccro, Eric Reid, & Matt Elam)
    2012 - 2 (Mark Barron & Harrison Smith)
    2011 - 0
    2010 - 2 (Eric Berry & Earl Thomas)

I'd love to have any of those guys on our team. This year Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix is the main safety, I'm always scared of Alabama players however. I'm sure they'll be some safeties flying up the boards here soon.

    _______________

Tackle is arguable the most important position in football, besides QB. Roos still looks very good, but Stewart hasn't been anything great. Keep in mind both these guys are set to make good money next year. Titans are already limited on cap, so it wouldn't surprise me if Stewart got cut - which only happens if we have a legit backup waiting. This allows our rookie to start RT, while draft the future LT. Might still be too soon to do this, as we could keep Stewart one more year, his contract then expires, then go RT in 2015 and let Stewie walk.

    _______________

QB: I like this class. Big fan of Teddy, but he'll be #1. Haven't invested myself into watching all the QBs enough to make judgements. However, I watched Hundley play Nebraska and he was very good. He's a RS Soph and have mostly seen him behind Bridgewater, Boyd, and Manziel. Would love Hundley. But with Locker still young, Fitz as a backup, and our coaching staff so invested in Locker; I doubt we go QB Rd 1. I have a feeling Hundley will end up Top-5.

CB: This is our #1 need right now. McCourty is simply a #2. Verner is good, but is a free agent and might leave; as remember we don't have a ton of money. We've drafted Coty and Blidhi-Wilson for a reason, to replace Verner. Aaron Colvin (OU), Bradley Roby (OSU), and Marcus Roberson (FLA) are the main CBS I see on draft boards. I haven't seen any play but Roby last year. All are around 5'11/6'0 and sub 200 lbs, speedy coverage corners. I wouldn't be shocked if we draft one of those three.

WR: So against this. We've invested a 1st and a 2nd in WR these last two years. We have to first get a QB that can throw the ball before we invest in another WR.

    Very good sir.

Our tackles are over 30 and both are set to be free agents. Stewart's deal is done after this season and the team has an option year for Roos. I don't see Stewart being brought back and we might as well invest in a right tackle to go with Warmack and have that side of the line cemented for the next decade. Or we can draft a potential left tackle and have home start at right tackle for a season like Roos did when Hopkins was here his last year. Either way we need to start thinking about tackles.

The good news is this draft will be loaded with tackle talent. Taylor Lewan, Cyrus Kouandjio, Jake Matthews, Antonio Richardson and Cameron Erving could all have first round grades.

The history of Alabama defensive backs under Saban scares me off of Clinton-Dix. Can anyone give me one who has been successful? Kareem Jackson is probably the best one and that guy is average at best. With that said, this team needs to upgrade both safety spots.

Corner is probably our biggest need. Verner is in the last year of his deal and I don't think he'll be back. The Campbell experiment has been a failure. McCourtey did an admirable job covering Andre Johnson for most of the game, but you knew he could only hold up for so long.

The good news is this draft is going to be LOADED with CB talent. Marcus Roberson, Loucheiz Purifoy, Bradley Roby and Jason Verrett could all be first rounders with plenty of depth falling to the second round.

I still think we need another DT and DE.

Casey has been very good but the guy next to him, regardless of who it is, has been bad. Kulg got the start against the Texans and was getting washed out of the play almost immediately. Sammie Hill is soft.

Morgan is alright, but Potuitua isn't a long-term fix on the other side and everyone knows I think Kam Wimbley sucks.

I'm not sure this is going to be a good year for DTs though. Last year should have been the year we grabbed one with Lotulelei on the board or Kawann Short in the second.

Man, would of loved Star on this team. I think CB is a bigger need right now than DL however.

The guys at Walterfootball have been saying the last two years that their "sources" were telling them had one of the top corner prospects been available when we picked in the first round we would have taken him. I guess that would have been Milliner last year(thanks to the Jets for taking that overrated walking injury) or Stephon Gilmore/Dre Kirkpatrick considering we were picking around 20 in 2012.

I don't disagree with you that CB is the biggest need on defense and I'd love to get a real man-to-man cover guy on this defense.

I still think OT will get the nod, especially if Munch is still here.

That's exactly how I few it. If we can get a potentially shut-down corner, although corners are a huge risk, our defense would be so much better. We lack that elite talent in the secondary, although you could make the arguement that a true pass rushing DE our secondary would be better.

Stewart & Roos are actually both under contract for this year and next year. So as I said earlier, unless we cut Stewart, I see us opting for CB, DL, FS, or QB in Rd 1 and Rd 2. Then in the 2015 NFL draft we draft for OT replacement & likely resign Roos for a couple years.

Watching college games with an eye on the draft and prospects throughout the season keeps me from having to binge on it in February and March.
