Take a look at Steve McNair's numbers in 1999.

It will shock you how terrible he was the majority of the time. Yet we still made it to the Super Bowl... Also take a look at his average passing yards per game in 1999 and 2000... not any better than what Jake can do.

Sure, the league was much different back then, but if throwing the ball 20 times gets it done, I can't complain. Better to throw 20 times a game with no turnovers than to throw it 45 times a game and turn it over 3 times like a lot of these gunslingers do these days.

Then take a look at the 2008 Kerry Collins. 174 YPG with a 58.3 completion %.

We're certainly missing a few key pieces that we had from those 1999 and 2008 teams, but our fundamentals are the same.

McNair was horribly inconsistent passing anything over 15 yards back in those days but he was clutch and would get you the first down whether he ran it or hit Wycheck.

I'd love for Locker to develop something with a receiver like McNair had with Wycheck. It's like they could read each other's minds.

I'm not shocked, as much as I loved McNair he was never a great passer in fact it was pretty bad for the most part. I can't tell you how many times we'd have like 3rd and 2 and McNair would throw a 50 yard bomb, 5 yards over the receiver. That would drive me absolutely crazy.

The thing is I am not OK with that style of offense or this one, which is basically the same. I'm sick of this tired same ol' 1950's style of football, our philosophy needs to evolve or were going to be left behind.

I'm with you but this thread is about how being left behind might be a good thing. I hope it does work out for us because if we get into a shoot out I don't think there are many teams we can beat.

Look back just a couple of year's ago. Hasselbeck put up the best QB numbers the Titans franchise has seen since Warren Moon. In a 9-7 season, the Titans actually had more passing yards than their opponents.

Passing the football doesn't necessarily mean winning football.

So far, the only guy Locker seems to trust is Washington. He also seems to be the only receiver who has earned that trust.
