Yeah, most shops just make you sign a waiver saying they're not liable.

What's the laws w/ window tinting in TN?

I think anything 30% and up is legal. Anything below that is illegal. Unless it's changed. Been a while since I looked in to it.

35% is the MAX for regular window tinting. It'd be 35% or lower is legal.

They can be tinted and plainly visible when the brake is applied, if it wasn't "plainly visible" then you couldn't distinguish when the brake was applied. I spoke with my cousin who's a police officer, he said it "depends on how much they cut down visibility".. so not a percentage like regular windows, he said as long as their visible but if someone rear ends you they could use that as an excuse.

As for what I do.. I test/analyze/fix "bugs" in the software the company uses.

just be aware, the only reason this law is enforced to have a reason for probable cause. has little to do with safety.

Brake application has nothing to do with it.

Your tail lights have to be visible at night without brakes applied.

You're still missing the point that if you cover something and obstruct it- it's not plainly visible.

If you applied a clear tint to it- sure. But darkened? That makes it no longer "plain"ly visible.

If you want to be honest about it- you're putting people in danger for a "cool" factor. Uness you're like 19 yrs old, I'd say just get some aftermarket tails and be safe.

You could probably get away with this:

Anything darker and you'll probably be peeling it soon though.

Yeah, I don't think a cop will ever pull you over for having smoked tailights...many cars have stock tailights that are that color. Now, if your tails are blacked out and barely producing any light when you brake, that might be a different story. Again, I have the smoked tint, and the light output is great; I actually got pulled over once, and the cop didn't even mention it.

The real problem would be if you ever actually did get rear ended. The fact that you have tinted tailights would not be good in such an instance. I'm taking the risk everyday thought because it looks pimp. lmao

Again- it doesn't matter about braking. Your tails have to be clearly visable in the dark when you ARENT braking. This keeps people from rear-ending you.

You guys must be in a different part of TN.

Cops here pull you over for any and everything they possibly can.

And nah, cars don't come stock with smoked tail lights. haha

Have you seen a firebirds tail lights? Yes, there are some cars that come stock with dark tail lights.

Also, I didn't say it wasn't illegal to have tint even if you can see when you brake; just a lot more likely you won't get pulled over.

And yeah, in Memphis tail light tint is a little lower on the crime list. Lol

Speaking of tint, I am wondering if I can tint my side view mirrors.. Nothing is worse to me than a redneck truck behind me at night or a ricer with blue halo lights
