It's not so conservative these days.

Gruden isn't afraid to take risks. They love to go for it on 4th down, employ a lot of fake punts (more special teams, than offense, I suppose), have WRs throwing passes (Sanu's 70+ yard TD throw against Washington), and are now designing a ton of 2-TE sets where he's got guys lining up all over the place.

We also now have Giovanni Bernard which is the first RB we've had in years that actually has break-away ability. That should help considerably since he can catch out of the backfield and provide us with a new dimension.

If anything, unpredictable, should sum this offense up pretty well. If not, then Gruden deserves to be canned, because he has all the weapons at his disposal.

    It's all debatable.

Keep in mind, I'm talking about just the d-line as opposed to overall D where we were ranked 6 (which is just about right). I expect that to be higher this season with some stability at the safety spot, and improved CB group with the return of Kirkpatrick, and yes...I believe that "goon" James Harrison will contribute as well.

Geno Atkins is very much in the discussion for best DT in football, Michael Johnson and Carlos Dunlap are both beasts, and Peko is an excellent run stuffer. And, we're deep which allows to keep guys constantly rotated and rested.

A lot of people don't realize just how good Atkins is. He had 12.5 sacks last season. The next highest DT was Suh, who had 9. He's in the backfield constantly, and literally just tosses guys out of the way. He's been making training camp a bit of a nightmare for our offense this summer...

Skyline Chili isn't what I would categorize as "chili".

It's a chili-like sauce that is applied to other food. You get it on a coney, a three, four, five-way or in a dip... but you don't eat it by itself in a bowl.

As a sauce - to be applied with other food, it's great.
As a bowl of chili, it is effin terrible. "IT AIN'T CHILI!"

That is my observation from moving up from TN and living here the past 6 years.

Who on Earth would eat Skyline out of a bowl? In that case, yeah, I'd agree with you entirely. I spent my entire childhood there and never tried that myself. Nor did I witness anyone else going that route.

Now, some of those Gold Star freaks, on the other hand...well they're just an odd bunch to begin with :p

For me, it's always either a deluxe burrito or 3-way, with a couple of chili cheese sandwiches on the side. Throw in some root beer and oyster crackers, and you're in heaven.

I'm counting in just D line and rush linebackers in that list. So guys like Aldon Smith and Von Miller count. They're pretty much Dlineman only they are standing up and not in a 3 point stance. I would have to say those 4 are considerably better and it's not that debatable. Now top 5 is not too shabby and your line is better than ours by far so don't think I'm a hater or anything, but outside looking in there's no question. Every fan tends to overvalue their team as I have done far too often with this team and lost a lot of money.

I've never heard of linebackers being counted as d-line. *shrug*

The Bengals generated 51 sacks last year, and the majority of them came from rushing 4 guys. That's typically all they need, hence my statements about the d-line.

If you want to throw in LBs, then we're back to what I said about our #6 ranking last year, which I felt was pretty spot on.

And no, I don't think you're a hater. Most people simply don't know much about the Bengals D. They don't get the media attention of other teams and unless you're watching them every week they can easily go overlooked.

Of course it does. And that's exactly why they were invited, which is the point I was making above.

What I'm really talking about, though, is the coverage you see on your typical Sportscenter/NFL Network coverage. Titans fans know what I mean, because it's pretty much the same for you.

Turn on any NFL show and you're likely to see hour upon hour about the very average Dallas Cowboys, the disaster going on in the NY Jets locker room, or Tom Brady's amazing state of awesomeness.

The average fan has no clue what's going on in Cincy unless they actively go looking for it.

Skyline Chili is the ish. You gotta quit posting man because everytime you do it makes me hungry. Half my family is from the Nasti.

I'm pretty excited about this week's matchup. I do think the Bengals are gonna be really good this year and I'm excited to see how our O-Line and D-Line matchup against theirs. I'm hoping for another dominate run blocking performance. If we can do it against the Bengals, we could do it all season long.

I'm also wanting to see more from Jake Locker. He was the checkdown king last week which is alright, but I want to see him stretch the field some Saturday. I want to see his accuracy and decision making improve. He has the athleticism and arm to be elite, but he has to master his passing.

Gonna be a good matchup. Looking forward to it.

I was just joking ... I thought it was funny and a little ironic that you pointed out how little media attention the Bengals get, when they have an entire show devoted to them right now (and an entire thread on another team's forum devoted to said show)

But I did understand what you meant as far as not getting the SC type coverage ... just bustin' your balls a liitle haha
