We will enjoy it, then prepare for him to suck again next year. Never been good 2 years in a row imo.

No one in the NFL except the Seahawks have a true "shutdown" corner and that is a fact. We have decent CB's but a defenses success is defined by it's pass rush; a good pass rush can make a average CB look good and a good one look great. If our front seven can get to our CBs then we will be fine. If they can't it wouldn't matter if we had a CB tandem of Richard Sherman and Darrell Revis.

Yea sayin Sherman is the only lockdown corner in this league is laughable.

He's good, sure, but our best CB would be most teams #2.

Not trying to be negative just stating the facts.

Sherman isn't a shutdown corner. He is just a bigger Finny.

Until I see him return from a torn ACL I am unwilling to call Revis a shutdown guy. He was before the injury but now his status is to much of a question mark.

A shut down corner is a guy people are afraid to throw the ball at and Sherman is quickly becoming that guy. Last year he caused 10 turnovers and deflected over 20 passes. I guarentee apposing QB's are going to find someone else to throw the ball at next season.

Also, the only thing that caused Finnegan issues was his inability to cover bigger, faster wide out and Sherman does not have that issue. Finnegan was also a zone cover corner where as Sherman plays man-to-man. Outside the fact that they're both trashtalkers they are not similar in the least bit.

There is a difference between a shutdown corner and a number 1 corner/good corner. Champ Bailey was a shutdown corner. Charles Woodson was a shutdown corner. Dion Sanders was a shutdown corner.

There is not an abundance of those type of guys in the NFL. McCourty is a good corner if his front seven is generating pressure like 95% of CB's in the NFL. People on this site seem to think he had a horrible season this year but that is not true. He started the season poorly but played a lot better as the year went on. Do you know what else started slowly and got better in the second half of the season? Our pass rush.

    Coincidence?

Ask Sherman how well he 'shut down' the Falcons.

Fact of the matter is, we really don't have a shutdown corner in the league at this moment.

So does this mean the team will not be looking for a vet CB on the waiver wire?

I don't think that was ever an option.
