Titans safety Michael Griffin said he doesn’t know anything about Vince Young’s financial situation. It’s not his business, he said.

So Griffin, who was Young’s teammate at the University of Texas and later with the Titans, was hesitant to weigh in on a report that Young’s personal items will be auctioned off to pay a debt.

“When I see him, we talk and joke around, and I wish him luck and everything,” Griffin said on Friday. “He is a good family man and a good guy. But what is going on behind the scenes, who is to really say? It is one of those situations where there’s his side, the other side, and then there’s the truth. I try and stay out of it.”

Young, the third overall pick of the 2006 draft, spent five seasons with the Titans. His original contract was valued at $50 million, half of which was guaranteed. After stints with the Eagles and Bills, he remains unsigned.

Television station KHOU in Houston reported police entered Young’s home there to take inventory of all his belongings and value them for auction. The items will be auctioned off by court order to settle a $1.7 million debt that Young owes a company called Pro Player Funding.

According to the report, Pro Player Funding gave Young a high-risk loan during the 2011 NFL lockout. Young defaulted on the loan, but he has claimed the company and his former financial adviser tricked him into taking out the loan.

“At the end of the day,” Griffin said, “I know the city of Austin loves him, so he could have a job being on the coaching staff or doing anything at the University of Texas.”

Young was 30-18 as the starter for the Titans, who released him in 2011. He appeared in six games for the Eagles in 2011. He then signed with the Bills but did not play in a game for them.

“He is not an old guy,” Griffin said of Young, who turned 30 in May. “Do I think he could still get the job done? Yes. He got the job done plenty of times. I just feel like things that have happened in the past … at the end of the day I think he is still a starting quarterback who could get the job done and prove people wrong.”

I think whiffin and vy should start their own team. Gosh, would the rest of us ever win another game? Just think of their whole roster, help me out guys:

    Lamont Thompson
    Fat Albert
    Eugene Amano
    Tyrone Calico
    Spleen

Who else should we be worried about on this team?

VY almost raised us from the dead to the playoffs in 2009. You're delusional if you don't think he's still capable of playing at a high level.

He also was cut from Philadelphia and Buffalo. He couldn't even make a roster as the 2nd or 3rd QB. Teams aren't cutting him for no reason, he clearly isn't even playing on the same level as 2nd or 3rd stringers. You're delusional if you honestly believe he's playing at a level that warrents him starting, or even being a backup.
