I tried watching Big Bang a few times, and I think the show sucks. Arrested development was decently funny the few times I saw it, but never something I felt compelled to watch religiously.

    Maybe. I don't know.

And this AD season is great. The GOB and Tobias episodes are slaying me.

    Same.

I finally finished the new season last week. Overall I really enjoyed it although it was easily the weakest season, which I was expecting. Some of the episodes I was expecting to be weak (e.g. Maeby & George Michael) ended up being among my favorites while some of the ones I had the highest hopes for (e.g. George Sr.) were among the weakest.

The tone/vibe of the show felt a bit different than the first 3 seasons IMO. But there were a few episodes that felt like classic AD. The only thing that kind of irked me was it felt like they were trying waaaaaaay too hard to call back to past episodes/jokes. It really seemed like winking at the audience at times. And that's not a complaint I ever had with S1-3, despite all the callbacks and in-jokes. Still, at the end of the day it was new episodes of AD so I'm satisfied.

The ending was the only thing I didn't care for. Just extremely abrupt.

But if they're going to make a movie. Or... when they make the movie- I guess it leaves a lot to go on.

I rewatched all 3 seasons prior to starting the 4th. Yeah, they're classic. Especially the first 2 seasons. Unfortunately watching them all in a row like that really highlights how weak the 4th season is in comparison.

This new season is no weaker than any of the others.

I feel that's more nostalgia talking than anything. Guess it got too popular with the revamp.

Well, everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion. To me, and literally every other AD fan I've discussed this with, the 4th season is by far the weakest. And it has nothing at all to do with nostalgia for me. Like I said, I watched all 4 seasons in a row and there's a very clear dropoff in quality IMO. I honestly don't think there was a weak episode in the first 3 seasons. Every single one was entertaining as hell and LOL funny. While the 4th season had several weak episodes.

Again, just my opinion though. I wish I had enjoyed the 4th season as much as the first 3. But it just wasn't nearly as funny or consistent. And as I said before, the whole vibe of the show just felt different to me. All that said, I don't think S4 was bad. Compared to most of the sitcoms currently on TV it was pretty damn great. But compared to the earlier AD seasons.... well, there's just no comparison in my mind.
