The league has been playing a game once a year over in England and have also played in Mexico before and what i'm wondering is as a fan of the NFL are you for or against a team eventually being put in another country?

There was a similar topic but this one is a bit different i wanted to gauge how people felt overall about a team being placed overseas......

I don't care as long as it isn't the Titans.

I'd expand a couple more teams stateside before going overseas.

    Toronto
    Oklahoma City
    Birmingham
    Portland
    LA
    San Antonio
    Salt Lake City

A couple of markets that could lose teams.

    Jacksonville
    Oakland
    Buffalo

This year the NFL is actually playing 2 games in London, so the fans are there, it's the leagues choice whether or not they want to take advantage of a huge fan base by rewarding them with NFL games.

I mean a lot of European NFL fans stay up til 4am watching games, thats love for the game.

Canada would be the only country that would work.

I believe, the main reason the NFL is the most successful pro sport in the US is because it is OUR sport. You can follow, pretty much, every NFL player from high school, through college, to the pros. You can identify with, pretty much, every single NFL player, because they all come from a similar place. You can pronounce, pretty much, every NFL player's name.

Fans can connect to NFL teams in a way that is unique in the sports landscape of today. I understand the desire to go global, but I think it will end up diluting the fan base.

It's the National Football League, not the International Football League. We play games overseas to spread our sport in the hopes that other countries will take American Football more seriously, potentially escalating American Football into a more world-wide sport. (as well as for the money) I know it's a bit unrealistic, but imagine a World Cup of American Football.

But for now, the NFL needs to stay in America. I agree that there are other cities deserving of a team before we expand internationally.

Toronto could handle a team but needs a new stadium first. Rogers Centre is not the best for football. Also, tailgating in downtown Toronto would suck. Ontarioistan's sharia like alcohol laws would make make the experience pretty crappy. Not much static if you walk down the street smoking a J but drink in a parking lot and the cops would have a fit.

The point of the NFL doing a global expansion is LONG term world growth. Goodell is all for that. Of the cities that you list the Top one is in Canada you know (Toronto), so unless you say that doesn't count. Of the rest most really don't have the demographic and market size to make an NFL team work. LA is the obvious choice but it didn't work when the raider's were there, now you could say that was because it was the raiders but many coastal teams have problem drawing crowds when not winning, sometimes even when they do. Ever been to SD, beautiful weather, beautiful women, great scenery, ocean, lot's of things to do rather than watch mediocre football. I figure London someday is a given. Like it or not.

Do not sell Mexico short. Mexico City is huge and has a great party scene. Players would not want to go there at first but would after people learn how good a time they will have down there.
