yep. and ya can't coach speed. with Ayers playing DE more and blitzing, i like the pick. i'd love to pick up Q smith from wku in the 4th or 5th.

    Ok -

First - Matt Elam sucks and shouldn't have been drafted near as early as he was.

Second - I'm not knocking the guy. Look at him on field. He looks short and gets beat a lot on high balls. Regardless of what you think here, he's definitely NOT a safety option.

Sheesh.. this forum makes me lose hope for our fanbase.

Have you looked at our roster? OLB is just as much a weakness as DE. We literally have no depth at the position. This pick is great for us. It allows us to move Ayers to DE as well(where he's 10X better at anyway). I think Gooden will end up being better than Ayers at OLB and Ayers might end up getting his majority of snaps at DE. Gooden can actually cover TE's and RB's(something Ayers was HORRIBLE at). Stop hating man...it's a good pick.

Check my posts from like halfway through the season last year. I started the "move Ayers to DE" bandwagon(once I found out how bad he was at covering and how well he excelled at getting to the QB). This is a great pick. Regardless of whether we move Ayers to DE full time or not, this is still a good pick. Our only backup linebackers are Fokuo, Bailey and Shaw...and we don't want Bailey and Shaw playing, so really we only had one backup linebacker.

If one thinks this is a bad pick because they think D-end was so much more of a need, then they are quite ignorant.

That's very true.. Saying the DE depth is weak but claiming Foiku/Shaw/Bailey is good depth is ignorant.. Shaw/Bailey are a nightmare at anything besides special teams.

Also it is worth noting that Alex Oakfor, Brandon Jenkins, William Gholston, Joe Kruger, Quanterious Smith, and Michael Buchanon.

We can still add a quality guy in the 4th (hopefully Oakfor who I personally had as a high 2nd)

We needed some LB depth and Gooden brings a unique skill set. Expect Ayers to line up at DE a few snaps a game now with Gooden at OLB. We have one of the fastest LB's cores in the NFL now, speed kills.

This whole "Ayers at DE" a lot thing is pure fantasy.

We had NO OLB depth, NONE AT ALL. So really due to that, this is a good pick. Fokou has also been brought in and he could play MLB at a pinch. Also, there are still a lot of good MLBs on the board, have patience.
