bingo. And i think we can agree out D seemed to always be on the field last year.

Our O was LAST in TOP last season...so that means...Our D was on the field the most of any other D.

It's a smart pick. Best on the board plus considering our need. It fits.

Who was a reach, never even in the discussion for top G. These two guards are different than any other year. Largest grades since Hutchinson came out. These corners were not that elite

The consensus from the media is that this is weak draft when it comes to top end talent (perhaps even historically so). There's a site that I love called Pro-Football Reference.com. Yesterday I checked out the Oilers/Titans draft history and even though in my head I was aware of how few drafted players pan out, it was still startling how few picks turn into anything more than J.A.G. type players. Hell, the majority of players don't even develop into JAG's. (and I think the Titans draft history is pretty similar to that of most teams). Given that, and the perceived lack of talent in this draft, I love the Warmack pick (the only other truly safe pick seemed to be Eifert).

I know guard isn't a position normally valued so highly, but Warmack was touted early and often as the safest and perhaps best player in the year's draft. Guard is a position of need, and also helps the players we've already invested quite a bit in (Johnson, Locker).

A guy like Ziggy Ansah was sexy, tempting and could possibly fill a huge need (and I would have been excited had the team landed him). Keep in mind, we have "good" ends on the roster... we have "good" DT's on the roster. Ansah would need to be exceptional to have the type of impact both fans and management seek. That could happen, but there's no college tape to say that it automatically will. It seemed many GM's felt the same way about the defensive talent available... good players, with flaws that have a chance to be great. In the case of Ansah, chances are far greater we'd have ended up with the next Kenny Holmes rather than Jevon Kearse. Who is Kenny Holmes? Exactly.

I'm sure a couple of the touted defenders from this year's drat will indeed pan out to be stars... but I think it's a roulette wheel. I don't mind the Titans stepping away from that wheel at all.

ha ha... I rambled on... my main reason for posting was just to provide some linkage that hopefully gives some perspective on the relative prospects of the prospective prospects. Alliteration.

Oilers/Titans Draft history (it's insane how poorly the Oilers drafted in the early-mid seventies)

And it will be the coaches and front office that caused it. Not the fans. They let the O-Line deteriorate and did nothing about it (nothing that worked anyway) for 2-3 years. You can't expect most football fans to understand what was going on. True, you and I tried to explain it, but you won't see me in "I told you so" mode.

I think youre the only one around here who will being sucking Chris's Johnson.

I praise him when he's good and criticize him when he averages 2-yards per carry. Seems fair to me.
