Why are amano and hawkins still on the roster?

Maybe wait after the draft and then they'll be cut? At least Amano..

 

We really do need to cut these 2 guys, they're both over paid and offer nothing to the team.

Cut Amano save $1.8M, and cut Hawkins and save $1.2M for a total of over $3M

 

Simple...

After June 1, the team can stretch their salary cap liability over the next 2 seasons. If the player is cut after the first year of the contract, the remaining signing bonus hits the cap immediately. However, if he is cut after June 1, the team can spread that money over the remaining year of the contract, instead of taking the full brunt of the cap hit in the immediate year.

Also, it costs the Titans nothing (salary wise or cap wise) to keep them until the season starts. And in a worse-case scenario, they might have to play if a player or two ahead of them is injured before then.

Best-case scenario, they improve in training camp/preseason, push others to perform better, and force Webster to make a difficult decision. If that doesn't happen, you can cut them then without hurting your salary cap.

 

Hawkins is good depth. Pretty solid hands and has had good YAC. Don't know why everybody hates the guy. He's not supposed to be our go-to guy. Just supposed to step in and make the grabs he's supposed to.

Simple, don't need to cut them until we must. Even if they last until camp, they won't make the 53 Roster unless by chance they perform better than a guy we draft or signed in FA

 

We need Hawkins for when Nate gets cut, KB gets arrested, and Cordarrelle Patterson can't find his way to the stadium by himself.
